You can get $4 tickets at most movie theaters Aug. 27 for National Cinema Day

If you are looking to catch up with this summer's big movies, theaters have a deal for you.

This Sunday, Aug. 27, for the second National Cinema Day, most movie theaters in the Milwaukee area and Wisconsin will offer $4 tickets all day for all movies, including the summer's biggest hits, "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer."

"Barbie" with Margot Robbie is one of the movies showing this Sunday during National Cinema Day.

Most of the country's major movie theater chains are taking part in the promotion, launched by the National Association of Theater Owners' nonprofit Cinema Foundation. All of Milwaukee-based Marcus Theatres' Marcus Cinemas and Movie Tavern properties will be offering the $4 deal, including the chain's 11 Milwaukee-area theaters.

AMC Theatres, which operates the AMC Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, and ACX Cinemas' new theater at Bayshore in Glendale, also will have $4 tickets Aug. 27. Silverspot Cinemas, which has a theater at The Corners of Brookfield, will have $5 admission.

The Oriental Theatre is also offering $4 tickets that day.

In addition to the ticket discount, Marcus and ACX theaters will offer some concession deals.

Last year, for the first National Cinema Day, theaters nationwide reported 8.1 million admissions, making for the busiest movie-going day of the year, according to Variety.
