Alternative: $1,000,000 was a lot of money in 1992 when the Canadian alt-folk rock and jangle pop band Barenaked Ladies released the song "If I Had $1,000,000" on its debut album "Gordon." One of the lyrics is "I'd buy your love," but consider everything else the band fantasizes buying in the song: A house, furniture, K-car, art by Pablo Picasso or singer Art Garfunkel, taking a limousine everywhere and a pet monkey.

Even if you adjust for inflation, the $2,167,690.66 has limited buying power with a shopping list like that. During the band's early days, fans in sold-out theaters and arenas would shower the musicians with boxes of macaroni and cheese in reference to the line "We wouldn't have to eat Kraft dinner." But venues caught on and began confiscating the boxes at the door.

Barenaked Ladies became an underground success in the U.S. throughout the '90s with songs such as "The Old Apartment” and "Brian Wilson" while becoming huge at home in Canada. The band had a reputation for entertaining and humorous live shows and broke into the mainstream in 1998 with the hit “One Week" from its fourth album "Stunt."

Original frontman Steven Page left the band in 2009. The remaining members have since shared lead vocals on albums and live performances. Even though Page appeared and performed with the band in 2018 when the group was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Juno Awards in Vancouver, there have been no signs of a reunion.

Barenaked Ladies will perform Saturday at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino as part of the "Last Summer on Earth Tour" with Semisonic, who toured with the band in 1998 on the "Stunt Tour," and Del Amitri.

If you go: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, 84-245 Indio Springs Parkway, Indio. $39 to $89. fantasyspringsresort.com

Punk: When Orange County punk band Agent Orange arrived on the scene in 1979, the group took a different approach and incorporated surf rock into its brand of punk. Agent Orange was at the forefront of skateboarding's rising popularity during the '80s and became a favorite of many professionals such as Tony Hawk and Mark "Gator" Rogowski.

What makes Agent Orange so appealing? Take a listen to songs such as "Say It Isn't True," Everything Turns Grey" and "Cry For Help In A World Gone Mad."

You can also experience the band's live show on Saturday at Pappy and Harriet's.

Latin rock: Camila surprised fans in March when the Mexico City band released the single "Fugitivos," its first material in a decade to feature singer Samuel Parra Cruz, who departed in 2013. The band made a formal reunion announcement in May. It's good news considering Camila attained international success throughout Latin America and the U.S. and has won three Latin Grammy awards.
