'Saturday Night Live' #TBT: Russell Crowe Does Celebrity Family Feud

First time’s the charm this week on Saturday Night Live, as Russell Crowe takes the stage at Studio 8H to host the late night program. Yup, the Oscar winner has never hosted before! (Let’s hope fellow Best Actor honoree Leonardo DiCaprio will follow in his footsteps soon.)

Though Crowe has never hosted SNL before, he has made an appearance on it — by way of an impersonation from Taran Killam. In May 2014, Killam played Crowe in a Celebrity Family Feud sketch, pitting American singers against international singers. The Americans were led by Justin Timberlake (played by host Andrew Garfield), while Crowe joined the international team. But isn’t he an actor, not a singer? Aha, do not forget that he headed the Australian rock band 30 Odd Foot of Grunts!

And when Feud host Steve Harvey (Kenan Thompson) skeptically notes he’s never heard Crowe sing, Crowe reminds him of a little movie called Les Miserables and his big musical number… ah, “Shouty Words Yelled Loudly.”

Crowe, whose next movie is May 20’s The Nice Guys, will be paired with first-time musical guest Margo Price.

Saturday Night Live airs weekly at 11:35 p.m. on NBC
