'Saturday Night Live' #TBT: Diverging From the Hunger Maze

The Hunger Games saga comes to an end next with Mockingjay - Part 2, but lovers of post-apocalyptic YA movies need not cry. There are still plenty more of those in the pipeline!

Saturday Night Live spoofed the genre’s sudden ubiquitousness in a fake trailer for “The Group Hopper” — from “the director of Maze Runner, the producer of Divergent, and a casual fan of The Giver.” Characters are penned in by walls, sorted into groups, and fall in love at first glance.

But the funniest part of the trailer has to be Bill Hader’s rendition of Effie Trinket, the Hunger Games character played by Elizabeth Banks (who’s hosting the show this weekend). He’s wearing bright pink blush, furry purple coat, and ridiculous black horns.

“You must obey me, because I am your king,” Hader declares, then raises his eyebrow and adds, “Or queen. You’ll figure it out.”

Too bad Hader isn’t on SNL anymore, we’d love to see him and Banks do an Effie-off.
