'Project Runway All-Stars' Preview: Sam's Road to the Runway
Designer Sam Donovan doesn’t mind flirting with the rules — it took him all the way to second place on Project Runway: Under the Gunn and he’s hoping that attitude will propel him one further place to the top on Project Runway All-Stars.
As this intro video reminds us, Sam was lauded for his bold, innovative, edgy designs on Under the Gunn. When he embarked on the “Red Carpet Showdown,” he decided against going with the typical flowing gown. Instead, he found inspiration in screen icon Katharine Hepburn and created a glamorous, shimmering jumpsuit that the judges raved was “so modern and so edgy and still chic.”

He won again for the “Unconventional Beach Party” challenge with a knockout pleated skirt made out of a beach mat. And while the judges liked his final collection, Sam narrowly lost out to winner Oscar Lopez.
Now, he’s looking for redemption on Project Runway All-Stars, which airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
