People Are Sharing The TV Monologues That Wrecked Them, And No Lie, Every Single Actor On This List Deserves An Award
A while back, we asked for sad underrated TV scenes, and we got SO many submissions that we made into lists. Well, now we're back to combine some of the monologues people nominated on those lists! Here are some of the best:
1.On NCIS, when Palmer talked a victim's son off the ledge:
"When Palmer gets out onto a building ledge to talk down a kid who is about to commit suicide, and the whole team gets to hear him say how much he loves the team and how he didn’t even tell Ducky that he’d passed his boards exam because it would ruin the dynamic. Hell, I'm crying just typing this!"
2.On Chuck, when Chuck brought Sarah to their dream home and tried to get her to remember him:
"Any of Chuck's monologues on Chuck absolutely get to me, but specifically the monologue he gives when he brings Sarah to their dream home in the series' penultimate episode. Zachary Levi is so good at portraying how brokenhearted Chuck is and how much he loves Sarah. I cry every time I watch that scene."
3.On Doctor Who, when the Doctor said goodbye to Amy:

4.On Dexter, when Dexter gave Rita's eulogy:

10.On Outlander, when Claire told Jamie what it was like to see their stillborn daughter:
"I bawled so hard during Claire's speech to Jamie in the episode 'Faith' on Outlander. It broke me and it's one of the reasons I can't rewatch that episode."
11.On Once Upon a Time, when Emma told Snow about growing up an orphan:
"This was actually so sad and heartbreaking."
12.On This Is Us, when Kevin broke down on his old high school football field:
"No one gives Justin Hartley the credit he deserves for the superb acting in that episode (and the whole series)."
13.On Supernatural, when Castiel confessed his love for Dean right before he died:
14.On Shameless, when Fiona told her mother how she's had to raise her siblings and how well they were doing without her:
"Fiona’s speech to Monica crying and saying, 'You were my mother too' when Monica came back and tried to take Liam. It was absolutely heartbreaking. Emmy Rossum did a phenomenal job in that scene."
15.And when Monica died and Fiona told Frank she was never there:
"Fiona threw her entire life away, dropped out of high school, and had to have multiple jobs just to take care of her siblings. She had to be the mother she never had and was still treated like shit throughout the show. That scene breaks my heart and sends chills through my body no matter how many times I watch it."
16.On The Good Place, when Chidi told Eleanor a Buddhist belief about death as he said goodbye to her forever:
17.On Breaking Bad, when Jessie admitted to his group that he was there to sell meth and questioned their method of self-forgiveness:
18.On WandaVision, when Vision comforted Wanda after Pietro's death:
19.On Game of Thrones, when Jaime told Brienne why he killed the Mad King:
"It was just such a powerful scene and gives us an explanation of who Jaime actually is and how we have misunderstood him. That was the moment he became one of my favorites. You really feel sad for Jaime in that scene."
20.On The West Wing, when Mrs. Landingham told Charlie about her twin sons dying in Vietnam:

22.On This Is Us, when Kate got upset about the police killings of Black men and Randall talked about how exhausted he was:
23.On Sherlock, when John talked to Sherlock's headstone:
24.On Grey's Anatomy, when Bailey broke down to Derek after operating on her former high school crush:
25.On M*A*S*H, when Margaret confronted the nurses:
"There are so many sad scenes in M*A*S*H, but the one that sticks out for me that a lot of people overlook is in 'The Nurses' when Margaret break down and tells the other nurses how lonely she is. 'Can you imagine what it feels like to walk by this tent and hear you laughing and know I'm not welcome? Did you ever once ever offer me a lousy cup of coffee?' Maybe it’s because I was so lonely as a kid, but it makes me sob every time."
"I always, always remember that scene. The way she drags in her breath, you can hear her throat is practically closed with emotion."
26.On BoJack Horseman, when BoJack gave his mother's eulogy:
"The entire 'Free Churro' episode is one long monologue, and it's amazing."
27.On Doctor Who, when Amy realizes that nothing they'd done would make a difference for Van Gogh:
"In the Doctor Who episode with Vincent van Gogh, when the Doctor is trying to console Amy after she learns Vincent still kills himself. 'Life is just a pile of good things and bad things...'"
28.On The West Wing, when Mrs. Landingham was killed by a drunk driver and Bartlet spoke to God:
"Bartlet’s rant at God in 'Two Cathredrals' was absolutely heartbreaking but oh so good. The mix of Latin and English, and especially when he asked, 'What was Josh Lyman, a warning shot? That was my son!’ is so, so immensely powerful."
29.On Fleabag, when Fleabag "confessed" to the priest:
"Fleabag’s monologue in the church is the most real I feel like I have ever seen a character. I was breathless the entire time."
30.On Breaking Bad, when Jesse told Walt he was done with him:
"Jesse has so many heartbreaking speeches in Breaking Bad. ... His whole angry, tearful monologue to Walter in the hospital always gets me. Just the way he yells, 'I have never been more alone. I have nothing. No one!'"
31.On M*A*S*H, when Hawkeye remembers that the woman he told to keep her chicken quiet actually was holding a baby, and that she killed her baby to protect them:
32.On Parenthood, when Zeek takes Amber to see her wrecked car after her car crash and tells her off:
"I cry every time."
33.And finally, Ben's taxi monologue in Ozark (this one is literally five minutes, and I couldn't even try to sum it up in a few screencaps, so I'm just going to link it below):
