How 31-Year-Old Accused Of Blaming Others For Everything Can Change His Behavior

Kyle is a grown man who still depends on his parents for money and to take care of his basic needs. The 31-year-old says he’s had some rough times, and his parents haven’t helped him enough to get back on his feet – and they should because they are partly to blame for his situation.

Dr. Phil, along with Jon Taffer, author of the new book “Don’t ******** Yourself, Crush The Excuses That Are Holding You Back” and co-host of the new show “Face the Truth,” tell Kyle what he must do if he wants to change his life and get out of his current situation.

“As long as you can blame your shortcomings on somebody else, you have no reason to change,” Taffer tells Kyle. “If you understand that excuses are poison, don’t eat the poison. Don’t let them come out of your mouth … You cannot use the excuse of your parents for your failure.”

Dr. Phil tells Kyle and his parents, who admit they continue to support their son even though they claim he is violent and unappreciative, that their situation is a family problem. “You have crippled him by not preparing him for the next level of life,” he says.
