3 Tricks for Pulling Off Makeup at the Gym

We have all done it before: rolled out the bed, rushed straight to the gym, and run into someone we know. Yep, I know I certainly have. I live in New York City and am a well-known fashion model, so let’s just say I have faced more than my fair share of embarrassing encounters where I’ve been spotted wearing mismatched workout clothes, messy hair, and no makeup. Here are my tips and tricks for hitting the gym with a fresh face.

Get glowing
The best way to give you a pretty and clean look before heading to the gym is to throw on a little waterproof mascara and a little bronzer on your cheeks and collarbones. Bronzer gives the illusion of the postworkout glow without even lifting a finger, and no one will be wiser. Don’t be afraid to select a drugstore-brand highlighter stick for workouts and maybe go with a more luxurious line for day to day.

Cover up … the smart way
If you are someone who struggles with dark spots and blemishes like I do, then you might want to go for a little more coverage. I recommend trying out a tinted moisturizer or CC cream. Not only will these products get you through your morning workout, but you will also find them to be handy when you are running errands or rushing the kids to school. And don’t forget the SPF. The vast majority of tinted moisturizers and BB creams are formulated with sunscreen, so don’t skimp on this even if it’s a little more expensive. Remember to treat you skin like silk.

Keep it fresh
The only way I can stay in shape is by squeezing workouts in around work and family time. In order to keep it moving and fight the funk, I rely on the new generation of postworkout wipes. For my hair, adding a few clip-in or halo-type extensions to camouflage a wilted blowout always does the trick especially when I have to go back to work or out for dinner. If I’m working out alone, I like to spritz on a citrusy fragrance in the morning. It wakes me up and kicks me into fifth gear!
