Annual Shakespearean tradition

Summer is here, and that can only mean one thing for theater fans: It’s time to make the annual trek to Carlin Park for Shakespeare by the Sea. The event celebrates 33 years with a performance of the Bard’s “Measure for Measure.” This classic tragicomedy about a Viennese duke who leaves his position mysteriously during a high time of vice is a guaranteed hit, plus it gives parents the opportunity to introduce teenagers to classic literature. For an extra challenge, try to speak in iambic pentameter all day before the show — it’s harder than you think!

Shakespeare by the Sea, “Measure for Measure”: Performances run Thursday, July 7 through Sunday, July 9 and again from July 13 to 16. The show begins at 8 p.m. Seabreeze Amphitheater at Carlin Park, 750 S. FL A1A Hwy., Jupiter. Info: 561-762-8552 or www.pbshakespeare.org.
