Annual Shakespearean tradition

Summer is here, and that can only mean one thing for theater fans: it’s time to make the annual trek to Carlin Park for the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival. The event celebrates 32 years with a performance of the Bard’s “Richard II.” This famous drama about a king crowned at a very young age is a guaranteed hit, plus it gives parents the opportunity to introduce young ones to classic literature. For an extra challenge, try to speak in iambic pentameter all day before the show — it’s harder than you think!

Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival, “Richard II”: Performances run today through Sunday and again July 14–17. The show begins at 8 p.m. Seabreeze Amphitheater at Carlin Park, 750 S. FL A1A Hwy., Jupiter. Info: 561-762-8552 or www.pbshakespeare.org.
