As the local dining scene continues to evolve in the Sunshine State, we are inevitably thrilled to say hello to new restaurants and disheartened to say goodbye to old favorites.

Throughout the month, while some restaurants closed their doors, others serving new and unique offerings from deep-fried favorites and sauce-smothered bites to sweet treats and so much more have opened their doors here in the Daytona Beach area, keeping our stomachs full, spirits high and community thriving.

While we sadly say our goodbyes to some, we also welcome a plethora of quickly-growing, go-to spots. So, if you’re looking to stop in somewhere new for breakfast, lunch or dinner, check out the latest restaurants and cafés that have opened in Volusia-Flagler during the month of November.

El Sabor Latino

El Sabor Latino announced its opening at the start of November in Holly Hill. The new Latin-fusion restaurant serves authentic Nicaraguan, Mexican, Honduran and Salvadoran dishes, including empanadas, enchiladas, tacos, steak and more. Manzano’s Beachside Deli

This popular sandwich shop, known for its perfected menu of unique combinations, Boar's Head meats, New York bread and notoriously massive sandwich servings, opened the doors to its second location in Port Orange last month. Schnitzel Time

Schnitzel Time, a casual new restaurant serving authentic German cuisine, opened its doors several weeks ago in Palm Coast. The family-owned eatery offers dine-in or takeout and serves traditional schnitzel, bratwurst and more. Domenech Corner

Domenech Corner, a cozy new Cuban restaurant, opened its doors in November, serving traditional Latin cuisine. The eatery’s menu features breakfast selections like the Cuban Sunrise and sandwiches like the Cubano, as well as soups, salads, seafood and more. Domenech Corner replaces what was formerly Happy Chef, located at 508 N. State St. in Bunnell and is open 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday – Friday and closed Saturday. For information, call 386-313-1533.

Sergio’s Pizza Kitchen and Italian Restaurant

Sergio’s Pizza Kitchen and Italian Restaurant opened for business at the end of November in Daytona Beach. The new eatery offers an extensive menu of authentic Italian cuisine, ranging from pizza and calzones to pasta plates, soups, desserts and more. Sergio’s Pizza Kitchen and Italian restaurant replaces what was formerly Anthony’s Pizza, located at 1500 Beville Road in Daytona Beach. For information, call 386 317-4777 or visit Facebook.com.

Brickyard Lounge and Grill

The iconic Brickyard Lounge and Grill re-opened its doors in November after undergoing new ownership. The popular spot is back with the same juicy burgers, chicken wings and more that customers knew and loved. Brickyard Lounge and Grill is located at 747 W. TenneSteve Trash

This new beachfront ice cream shop hosted its ribbon-cutting last month, announcing its official grand opening. TenneSteve Trash is known for its unique selection of freeze-dried candy, rolled ice cream and made-to-order customizable pizza cones. TenneSteve Trash is located at 831 E. International Speedway Blvd. in Daytona Beach and is open noon – 7 p.m. Monday – Thursday, noon – 9 p.m. Friday – Saturday, and 1 pm. – 7 p.m. Sunday. Clean Eatz

This popular meal prep chain has made its way to Ormond Beach, opening its doors at the end of November. Clean Eatz is known for its dietician-approved, customizable, healthy meals with keto, gluten-free, vegetarian and high-protein options. The chain has more than 85 locations across the U.S., and offers catering, weekly meal plans, grab and go pre-made meals and more. Clean Eatz is located at 1112 W. Volusia-Flagler restaurants that closed in November:

Persimmon Hollow Brewery

This Florida-born brewery, known for its craft beers and varied menu of small plates, closed the doors to its Port Orange location earlier last month after less than two years in business. The brewery announced the closing in a Facebook post stating,

"We are sad to announce that we made the difficult decision to close our location in Port Orange as part of our company’s reorganization plan. We would like to thank our team, our guests and all our vendors for accompanying us along the ride at this location. You can still visit us at our DeLand and Lake Eola locations. You can also find our beer on tap at many of your favorite restaurants throughout Florida, and of course on retail shelves wherever great beer is sold.” Persimmon Hollow Brewery was located at 4647 S. Clyde Morris Blvd. in Port Orange.

Red Crab Juicy Seafood

Red Crab in Palm Coast closed its doors at the start of November. The popular chain has several locations in Florida and across the country, and is known for its vast seafood selections, ranging from boils, crab legs, lobster and clams to its fried seafood baskets, po boys and more.

The eatery, which will be replaced by Wild Ginger Sushi and Asian Kitchen, announced its closure in a Facebook post stating, “We will be remodeling our store and updating our menu to bring a new concept to Palm Coast. The new menu will consist of Asian fusion cuisine, seafood boils, and much more. We are very excited for the change and look forward to serving everyone again.”

Sloppy Joe’s Daytona Beach

Sloppy Joe’s Restaurant closed its doors in Daytona Beach just days ago after 13 years in business. The popular restaurant was located in the Ocean Walks Shoppes retail center at 250 N. Atlantic Ave. and was known for its Key West-inspired offerings, ranging from the fried Key West shrimp and Key lime pie to the loaded tots, The Big Sloppy Joe with cheese, the Beyond Burger and more.

The restaurant announced its sudden closure in a Facebook post, stating, “With a heart full of gratitude we announce the permanent closure of Sloppy Joe's Daytona after an incredible 13 years of serving our amazing community. As of Nov. 27, 2023, this location is closed."
