Former Disney stars Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale are still super close, seven years after the final High School Musical. Technically, they’re at different places in their lives — 30-year-old Tisdale is now married; Hudgens is 26 and unmarried, though she’s dated Austin Butler for four years — but the besties have a lot in common.

Yahoo Celebrity couldn’t help but notice that when we spoke with them separately about the launch of “Guitar Hero Live,” a game which they both adore for similar reasons, natch.

Here are a few things they share:

1. They can’t get the hang of playing a real guitar, but love to rock out with “Guitar Hero Live.”

Both Tisdale and Hudgens claim they’re pros at the latest version of the video game.

“I’m actually really, really good at it,” said the actress and singer, who prefers ‘70s rock such as Led Zeppelin, thanks to her dad. “I love playing video games, and the thing about is I can’t play a real guitar, but I play really good on 'Guitar Hero.’”

She added that guitar lessons didn’t help.

“My husband [musician Christopher French] actually plays real guitar, so he actually kind of laughs at me for not playing a real guitar,” Tisdale said with a laugh. “But he says, 'You’re really, really good at Guitar Hero.’”

Hudgens found herself trying to rock out on a guitar while making the 2009 movie Bandslam about a music group.

“I played a [Gibson] Flying V, which was awesome because it’s not your everyday, typical guitar,” Hudgens explained. “But it’s hard! You have to have really good finger dexterity and I have such small hands, so it makes it even more difficult for me. That’s why we have Guitar Hero!”

2. They like to nosh on (the same) candy at Halloween and no other day of the year.

Tisdale really likes the sweet stuff, especially Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

“At Halloween I definitely go for it,” Tisdale said. The rest of the year? Not so much.

The same goes for Hudgens, who shared that her diet is mostly candy-free, too.

“I try to eat clean for the most part,” Hudgens explained. “I think it’s really important what we put into our bodies, just for our own well-being and as fun as all those pumpkin pies may be, I try to keep my distance."

But she revealed that she does have food weaknesses this time of year, although they still sound pretty healthy.

"When fall and winter come, I go to this little restaurant not too far from my place, and I get rice milk chai lattes, and they just taste like winter goodness to me. Of course, on Halloween, I will definitely be eating a lot of candy. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are my favorite.”

Of course they are.

3. They’re both definitely the costume type.

In fact, Hudgens is such a fan of Halloween that she’s going to be playing hostess.

“I love dressing up and I love being out with my friends, but I don’t really like big parties,” the Spring Breakers star said. “I don’t like crazy environments, so in the past I have just kind of gone with the flow and gone over to my friend’s house, but last year I took it upon myself to have the Halloween party that I would want to go to, and this year is the second year that I’m going to be throwing a Halloween party. I’m really excited. I’ve put so much work and time and energy into the party, so I’m just excited to share it with my friends and have a good time."

Tisdale always dresses up, and said she is considering a group ensemble for 2015.

"This is the first year where I don’t know [what my costume is going to be],” she shared in mid-October. “I’ve been so busy, I haven’t figured that out yet, but I think I could be maybe something from Star Wars, because we got an Ewok costume for my dog Maui, so I think the whole family might dress up as Star Wars, but we’re still figuring that one out."

At least she doesn’t have to worry about where she’ll be going…
