3 Dead, 11 Shot In Mass Shooting at California's Gilroy Garlic Festival

The last day of California's Gilroy Garlic Festival ended in gunfire after a mass shooting left three dead, and at least 11 injured.

Reports of the shooting started to come in via social media around 5:30 PT Sunday, as the festival was winding down. Musical performers were also on stage when the shooting started.

According to local reports, 3 people have been confirmed dead, and 11 people have been struck by gunfire. A hospital nearby confirmed they had at least two victims in their emergency rooms.

Police say they were on scene, and only a minute after the person started shooting officers fired back. That suspect was killed in the gunfire.

During a press conference, the chief of police said the suspect/s came through a back area of the festival and cut parts of a fence to enter. Attendees said that festival workers were checking bags upon arrival.

The Gilroy Garlic Festival is one of the largest food festivals in the state. People could be seen running from the gunmen, and several of those videos have ended up on social media.

One report claims it was two males who were shooting at "random" and were wearing military style outfits. They are being described as "white males in their mid-30's."

Hours after the shooting, officials told the public it was still an active crime scene at it was not safe.

FBI, various police agencies, and ATF are all on scene, and they are "still looking for one gunman." Officers are on foot, searching the area.

A possible facebook page of the shooter is making its way around online, but at this point its unclear if it is fact the suspect.

Another witness told NBC Bay Area some people were stranded at nearby Las Animas Elementary School. San Jose police and fire units were responding to the scene to assist, according to a tweet from Mayor Sam Liccardo.

For those searching for loved ones, a reunification center was set up at nearby Gavilan College, according to Gilroy police.

The annual festival closing out its last day when reports of the shooting came in.
