Danny Boyle's highly-anticipated sequel 28 Years Later has received an official release date.

Sony Pictures announced that the upcoming film — the third in the post-apocalyptic horror series — will officially hits theaters on June 20, 2025. Leading the cast are Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and Jack O'Connell, while Cillian Murphy, who starred in Boyle's 2002 original, is attached as an executive producer. Alex Garland will also return to write the screenplay.

Although the plot details are yet to be revealed, it was announced that the movie is the first in an upcoming trilogy with the followup to be helmed by Nia DaCosta.

28 Years Later will follow 2007's 28 Weeks Later, the standalone sequel from Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and 2002's 28 Days Later.
