27-Year-Old Mother Stabbed to Death While Pushing Her Baby in Stroller in 'Shocking' Attack

Police in England are searching for a 25-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing

Police in England are searching for a man accused of stabbing a woman to death while she was walking her baby in a stroller.

The 27-year-old victim, who has not yet been identified, was stabbed in Bradford, Yorkshire on Saturday, April 6, West Yorkshire Police said in a press release. Her baby was in the stroller at the time of the attack but was not harmed, the BBC reported.

The woman, who suffered “multiple stab wounds," was later transported to the hospital where she died from her injuries, per the police and the BBC.

“This is a shocking incident that has happened in broad daylight in a busy area of Bradford and been witnessed by a number of people,” Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said in the statement.

“A young woman has lost her life in the most awful circumstances, and we have extensive enquiries ongoing to locate and arrest the man responsible, who is understood to be known to the victim,” Atkinson continued.

Habibur Masum, 25, has been named as the suspect in connection to the stabbing and police are currently appealing to members of the public to locate him.

The victim and suspect also knew each other, the authorities confirmed.

In CCTV footage released by the police, Masum was last seen wearing a gray, white and black coat, light blue or gray sweatpants and maroon sneakers.

According to a witness, per the release, the suspect also wore his hood up at the time of his last sighting.

“We know this incident will understandably cause concern in the local community, and I would like to reassure the wider public that we are working tirelessly to investigate this horrendous crime and bring the person responsible to justice," Atkinson added of the attack.

“To help us with this we are urging anyone who was in the area who may have dashcam footage or seen or heard something, however small it may seem, to please come forward,” she continued. “A scene remains in place which includes some road closures and I thank the public for their patience while we conduct our inquiries.”
