26% of ‘America’s Got Talent’ fans say Putri Ariani deserved to win Season 18 [POLL RESULTS]

“America’s Got Talent” viewers were shocked on Wednesday night when dog act Adrian Stoica and Hurricane was crowned as the $1 million winner. Fun fact: they are now the third act to prevail on “AGT” that did not receive a Golden Buzzer since its inception, following Shin Lim (Season 13) and Dustin Tavella (Season 16). In Gold Derby’s post-finale poll, we asked fans to vote for who REALLY deserved to win Season 18, and Adrian & Hurricane came in third place with 16% of the vote. The top spot went to singer Putri Ariani at 26%, followed by synchronized dancers Murmuration at 21%.
Putri is Simon Cowell‘s Golden Buzzer singer who went viral each week with her pitch-perfect voice and out-of-the-box song choices (including those by U2 and Elton John). The 17-year-old Indonesian artist was born blind, but she doesn’t let that stop her from realizing her dream of becoming a worldwide recording artist. Putri ultimately finished in fourth place, much to the audience’s shock.

Murmuration, the in-sync dance group from France, earned Howie Mandel‘s Golden Buzzer in the auditions and instantly became a fan-favorite. Many people have compared the 65-member precision group to The Mayyas, the Lebanese dancers who won last season’s competition. Murmuration ended up placing third, behind Adrian & Hurricane and magician Anna DeGuzman.

Here are the poll results for all 11 acts when as asked “America’s Got Talent” viewers to say who really deserved to win:
26% — Putri Ariani
21% — Murmuration
16% — Adrian Stoica and Hurricane
11% — Avantgardey
10% — Ramadhani Brothers
8% — Anna DeGuzman
3% — 82nd Airborne Chorus
Less than 2% — Lavender Darcangelo, Ahren Belisle, Chibi Unity, Mzansi Youth Choir
Adrian reveals in our exclusive video interview (watch below) that he never thought he would even “be in the Finals,” let alone win the entire reality TV show. It was always his “big dream” to come try out his animal act on the American stage because it’s the “biggest in the world.” The American judges are Simon, Howie, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara and the host is Terry Crews.
Next up for Adrian & Hurricane will be headlining the Las Vegas show at the Luxor Casino and Hotel, titled “America’s Got Talent presents Superstars Live.” “Hurricane is ready,” the human trainer proclaims, though they do need some time to prepare a brand new act. Adrian ends our conversation by giving this piece of advice to future contestants: “The secret is just to have fun.”
