‘24: Legacy’ Has Familiar Feeling for Fans of Original Series

Fox premiered the new 24: Legacy series following the Super Bowl Sunday night, and for fans of the original series, watching it brought back some familiar feelings. There is no more Jack Bauer, but there are still terrorists who want to kill Americans, people working inside the American government, and one man at the center of it all.

Jack Bauer has been replaced by former Army Ranger Eric Carter (played by Corey Hawkins from Straight Outta Compton), who finds himself in the middle of a terror plot after an old mission abroad comes back to haunt him at home. The mission was organized by Rebecca Ingram (played by Miranda Otto from Homeland) who is the former head of the Counter Terrorist Unit. In the premiere, Rebecca finds herself back at CTU headquarters, where (surprise, surprise) there might be a mole.

For fans of the original series, it will make you feel nostalgic for the days of binge-watching a season of Jack Bauer kicking the crap out of everyone and defying all the odds. It will also make you feel like you’ve seen this all before. Either way, after Sunday’s premiere, one thing is for sure: There are, at least, 23 more hours of 24 to watch.

24: Legacy airs Monday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
