Nine-Nine! I've been rewatching Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Peacock and forgot how funny the cold opens were. Here are the funniest and very best cold openings from Brooklyn Nine-Nine:

1.A police lineup harmonizes for the most popular Nine-Nine opening. ("DFW" Season 5, Episode 17)

a police lineup sings "I want it that way"

Probably the cold opening that put Nine-Nine on the map for a lot of non-fans, and its dark ending is really the cherry on top.

NBC

2.Boyle needs prime parking for his food truck. ("Gray Star Mutual" Season 5, Episode 18)

Boyle curses out a fellow food trucker

One of my personal favorites. The cutaway to Boyle driving kills me every time. It's the Fury Road of food trucks.

NBC

3.Does Boyle have a yeast infection? ("The Overmining" Season 4, Episode 9)

Jake stares at Boyle, annoyed

Jake walks right into the most Boyle joke to ever joke. Boyle getting the best of Jake for once was hilarious, but the long pause between is even better.

"Like yeast!"

NBC

4.Jake isn't freaking out. ("Your Honor" Season 4, Episode 19)

Jake panics

A very relatable cold opening that really goes off the rails. Don't worry, Jake was faking the whole time because he's a great detective.

"We're gonna die in here!"

NBC

5.Boyle's oldest...bag? ("The Vulture" Season 1, Episode 5)

Boyle talks about the oldest woman he's had sex with, compares her to a transformer

Everyone discusses their oldest arrest, but Boyle thinks they are talking about a different type of "bag." Not the funniest of Boyle's cold openings, but Andy Samberg breaking character and seeing his natural laugh made it one of the most memorable.

NBC

6.This Halloween gaslighting prank on Boyle is legendary. ("Halloween, Part III" Season 3, Episode 5)

Everyone but Boyle dressed up for Halloween

Halloween and Nine-Nine go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Add pranking Boyle in the mix, and you get a quality cold opening.

NBC

7.Captain Holt has no pants on, and Jake is here to prove it. ("Beach House" Season 2, Episode 12)

Jake pretends to be choking

This is an example of Detective Jake Peralta solving a case but failing to prove it by making the captain stand up. It's ridiculous and has the perfect, predictable payoff.

NBC

8.Boyle dresses as...someone for the first Nine-Nine Halloween ("Halloween" Season 1, Episode 6)

Boyle dressed as a ginger chef

If you don't know who Mario Batali is, you might mistake Boyle's first Halloween 'stume (short for costume) on Nine-Nine as Miranda from Sex and the City.

NBC

9.The football game against NYFD seems unfair. ("Operation Broken Feather" Season 1, Episode 15)

Boone fails to trick Peralta

A fun first season cold opening that allows Terry to show off his ex-football skills. Nice to see the Nine-Nine bonding.

NBC

10."Thanks, Dad" ("The Apartment" Season 1, Episode 18)

Jake calls the captain "dad"

Jake accidentally calling Holt "Dad" might be one of the cast's funniest reactions. The wide shot of everyone staring at Jake after he says it is hilarious, and it's weird to see the Nine-Nine gang up on him for once.

"If anything, I see you as a Bother figure."

NBC

11.Everyone guesses why Amy Santiago is late. ("Jake and Sophia" Season 2, Episode 6)

Holt says "hot damn"

No words, except: HOT DAMN!

NBC

12."Rosa's wearing pink! Rosa's wearing pink!" ("Det. Dave Majors" Season 2, Episode 21)

Rosa wearing a pink button up

One of the best misdirection cold openings. It really blows up in Boyle's face, and the Nine-Nine remembers Mr. Grape.

NBC

13.How would Holt eat a marshmallow? ("Mr. Santiago" Season 4, Episode 7)

Rosa eats a marshmallow pretending to be Holt

The delivery of "Marshed-mallow" kills me every time, but what comes after makes this cold opening an instant classic.

NBC

14.The captain goes for a bold new look. ("Show Me Going" Season 5, Episode 20)

Holt in a red hat

I think it's bold enough to work, but the Nine-Nine clearly wasn't in favor of it.

NBC

15.Boyle Bingo! ("Thanksgiving" Season 1, Episode 10)

Boyle says boom

We never learn who wins the Thanksgiving "Boyle Bingo," but we're all winners for having him in Nine-Nine.

NBC

16."Mamma Maglione!" ("Ticking Clocks" Season 6, Episode 14)

Holt has a meltdown in the calmest manner

One of the longest, yet funniest cold openings. From Mamma Maglione to Rosa's girlfriend to Holt's meltdown, it's filled with laughs.

"You ignorant loser."

NBC

17.Hitchcock and Scully are the only ones on time for work. ("Ransom" Season 7, Episode 12)

Hitchcock claps his hands

"The building is being fumigated! There were so many emails!"

NBC

18.A prank on Hitcock turns deadly. ("Pimemento" Season 7, Episode 3)

Hitcock is strangled by his own shoes

Anything involving Scully and Hitchcock always escalates to ridiculous heights, and I love that about them.

NBC

19.Amy's bomb gift. ("Yippie Kayak" Season 3, Episode 10)

Amy tells Jake about her unmarked gift for her boss

I loved her confidence in the plan, but giving your police captain an unmarked package was probably the worst idea.

NBC

20.Tommy Gobbler only speaks in Gobble Gobbles. ("Ava" Season 3, Episode 8)

Boyle dressed as a turkey

If there was ever one cold opening that describes the humor of Nine-Nine, this is the one.

NBC

21.The "hula hooping" incident. ("Unsolvable" Season 1, Episode 21)

Holt says "no one will ever believe you" to Jake

Holt messing with Jake would become a staple for the show.

NBC

22."Wuntch time is over!" ("Stakeout" Season 2, Episode 11)

holt talks about how happy he is to own his arch nemesis

The king of pettiness: Captain Holt.

NBC

23.Holt's personal high-fives are the ultimate punishment. ("The Bimbo" Season 6, Episode 13)

Holt does an air guitar

This one felt like a long time coming for Jake, and each high-five somehow gets sillier than the one before it. I think we can all agree Captain Holt is the MVP of Nine-Nine.
