21 Savage Reveals His Raps Are Mostly “Fiction As Hell”

21 Savage has admitted that most of his raps are, in fact, cap. The Atlanta artist opened up about his music during a Rolling Stone interview and explained that his music is not all based on reality and is mostly “fiction as hell.” “I just think of it in my head,” he confessed. “Some of it be based off of real life, but a lot of it be creative stories.”
For Savage super fans, you may recall many of the rapper’s bars claiming his lyrics aren’t lies or fiction. On 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode II, the former touts his realness as the difference between him and his competition. One song in particular, “No Opps Left Behind,” finds the entertainer denouncing the possibility of his bars being fairy tales.
“Loose lips sink ships, yellow tape, white chalk/ Multitask, use the pistol and the fork/ Screamin’ no opp left behind/ ni**a, we gon’ kill ’em all,” he spits. “Ain’t no cap in my rap, ain’t no flaw/ You could tell it when I rap, ain’t no cut, this sh*t raw/ Cut him off if he talkin’ to the law/ I’m with Draco ’cause he quiet ’til he hit you in the jaw.”
Savage ain’t the only rapper admitting his raps are fiction. Fat Joe recently said that he lied in 95% of his songs. In an interview with Gayle King, the Bronx emcee explained that he used creative freedom in his songwriting. “I’ve been rapping professionally for 30 years, and I’ve lied in almost 95 percent of my songs,” Joe said. “I write what I feel that day. I’m just being creative.”
Later, Joey Crack took to Instagram to elaborate on his claims and respond to backlash. He argued that Young Thug’s RICO case inspired him to come forward with his admission.
“I had to say 95% of what I say is a lie so that they could understand that it’s unfair to try some kids for the rest of their life with sh*t they might have not done,” he later added. “None of this sh*t is true. It’s creativity. It’s imagination. Those who know, know… If I say I use my creativity, my imagination in my music, don’t mean I ain’t lived a real f**king life in the streets.”
