21 Savage has revealed the release date for his highly anticipated fourth solo studio album, American Dream, which the rapper says will arrive this Friday (Jan. 12).

The first solo album from the Atlanta rapper in over five years, American Dream: The Album will be accompanied by a biopic film based on his life story. The film, which is titled American Dream: The 21 Savage Story, stars award-nominated actors including Donald Glover, Caleb McLaughlin, Natasha Lyonne, Jabari Banks, Druski and more.

In addition to Glover and his brother Stephen Glover, Jamal Olori and Fam Udeorji also serve as directors of the film, which is produced by Tara Razavi and Udeorji.

In 2018, 21 Savage released I Am > I Was, his most critically acclaimed album to date. The project debuted atop the Billboard 200 and included appearances by J. Cole, City Girls, Offset, Post Malone, Gunna, Lil Baby, Schoolboy Q, Project Pat, Childish Gambino, and Young Nudy. Led by the hit singles “a Lot” and “Monster,” I Am > I Was was certified platinum and earned a nomination for Best Rap Album at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

In the period since I Am > I Was‘ release, the London-born rapper’s stock has only risen, much in part to a succession of standout guest appearances, as well as collaborative projects with some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop. In 2020, Savage reunited with Metro Boomin for the Gold certified sequel to their 2016 mixtape Savage Mode before linking up with Drake for the chart-topping Her Loss in 2022, which was certified double-platinum the following year.
