The 96th Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, Mar. 10, celebrating the best films of 2023 in 23 different categories. Scroll down for our official odds with our projected winners highlighted in gold.

Christopher Nolan‘s “Oppenheimer” heads into the ceremony with the most nominations of the year with a lucky 13, which means the film ranks as one of the most nominated movies of all time. Although it did not tie the record 14 held by “All About Eve,” “Titanic” and “La La Land,” it is tied with an impressive list of films that also scored 13 bids, including “Gone with the Wind,” “From Here to Eternity,” “Mary Poppins,” “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” “Forrest Gump,” “Shakespeare in Love,” “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” “Chicago,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “The Shape of Water.” Our experts, editors and users expect it to win 8 Oscars, which would make it one of only eight prior movies to win that many trophies at the Academy Awards. Some of its expected prizes will be for Best Picture, Director for Nolan, Actor for Cillian Murphy and Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr.

WATCH Experts slugfest: Our final 2024 Oscar winner predictions

“Poor Things” and “Killers of the Flower Moon” were the runners-up in terms of total nominations with 11 and 10, respectively. We anticipate both films to take home only a single prize each for Production Design for the former and Actress for Lily Gladstone for the latter. They will both be usurped in terms of total wins by the next-in-line nominations leader “Barbie,” which scored eight citations and should take home the awards for Costume Design and Original Song for “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and Finneas. Other leading contenders who we think will walk away with an Oscar include “American Fiction,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” “Maestro,” “The Holdovers” for Da’Vine Joy Randolph in Supporting Actress and “The Zone of Interest.”
