2024 BAFTA nominations predictions by movie: ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ ‘Oppenheimer’ will lead

Heading into the announcement of the 2024 BAFTA film nominations on Thursday, January 18, more than 2,000 Gold Derby users have made their predictions in 10 of the British academy’s 25 categories. Following their consistently strong showings with other movie awards organizations, the historical dramas “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Oppenheimer” are expected to emerge as this year’s BAFTA bid leaders. Scroll down to see our full nominations predictions in 10 top BAFTA categories, sorted by film title and in descending order of their projected totals.

As anyone who’s been following the current awards race might expect, “Oppenheimer” is heavily favored to trounce “Killers of the Flower Moon” and the rest of its competitors in terms of BAFTA wins. Indeed, our odds presently indicate that it will clean up in six of the 10 categories in our predictions center (including Best Picture), while its presumed strongest challenger is set to snag the highest award for which it cannot compete: Best Actress (Lily Gladstone). All projected wins are highlighted below in gold.

Also included among the 11 films that we believe will land in more than one of these 10 lineups are “All of Us Strangers,” “Barbie,” and “Poor Things” with five anticipated mentions apiece. The latter two are seen as surefire Best Picture nominees, along with the two forecasted nominations leaders and “Anatomy of a Fall.”

Our official 2024 BAFTA nominations odds are based on the predictions of said 2,000+ users, some of whom are classified as Experts, Editors, Top 24 Users, or All Star Top 24 Users.
