It's only Nov. 1, and New York City is already rocking around the Christmas tree, once again.

The iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has been revealed for the 2023-2024 season. Rockefeller Center took to X on Wednesday, Nov. 1, with a photo of the tree, as well as details on the tree's Binghamton-area location, its size and weight, and its estimated time of arrival.

"Meet the 2023 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree," the post reads. "This year’s Tree is from Vestal, New York, weighs in at about 12 tons, and stands 80 feet tall. The Tree will arrive on Center Plaza Saturday, November 11. Follow along for more updates right here."

Every year, according to Rockefeller Center Magazine, the tree — which is always a Northway Spruce — is picked out by the same person: Rockefeller Center's head gardener, Erik Pauze. After helping out with landscaping during a summer in college back in 1988, Pauze started getting increasingly more involved with tree selection. Now, after 30 years, he's still in charge of finding, caring for, and transporting the New York City staple.

In a recent interview with Rockefeller Center Magazine, Pauze said that he found this year's tree while scouting out a completely tree nearby, in Broome County. But he spotted it in the McGinley family's Vestal yard, and decided to knock on their door.

"Not too long before I knocked on the door, someone told them, 'That looks like a Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree,'" he recalled.

But, he says, he knew immediately that it was "the one."

"I knew when I saw it that it was going to work," he said. "I just had to trim the branches up to 5 or 6 feet. It’s a nice shaped tree, and it looks beautiful. When you stand in the street, and look at it against the blue sky, it really looks awesome."

The 2022 Rockefeller Center tree hailed from Queensbury, N.Y., 200 miles from Manhattan. It measured at 82 feet tall, 50 feet wide, and it weighed 14 tons.
