2023 MTV VMAs Red Carpet Fashion: See All The Looks

Last year’s carpet at the 2022 MTV’s Video Music Awards was anything but boring. Lil Nas X arrived topless with a Harris Reed halo secured to his head, Taylor Swift was decked out head-to-toe in Oscar de la Renta rhinestones and Lizzo arrived in an overflowing Jean Paul Gaultier gown with a black lip and slicked back hair.

This year, we’re expecting nothing less than that as music icons like Lil Wayne, Anitta, Doja Cat, Kelsea Ballerini and Karol G prepare to take the stage for their performances on the Prudential Center Stage.

If anyone knows how to shock a crowd with their carpet looks, it’s Doja Cat, who arrived in a revealing spiderweb-like knit dress, representative to the spider cover art on her upcoming album “Scarlet.” Fresh off her latest single “Paint the Town Red,” which topped the charts earlier this week, Doja is gearing up for the Sept. 22 release of her fourth studio album and tonight is up for five awards including best video and artist of the year.

Taylor Swift, who is no stranger to glitz and glamour since kicking of her Eras Tour journey back in March, leads the VMA nods with eight nominations. Tonight, she arrived on the carpet in a black Versace gown with gold detailing. If she takes home video of the year, she’ll break the record she set last year for the first performer to ever win three video of the year awards, which she earned for “Bad Blood, “You Need to Calm Down” and “All Too Well” The Short Film.”

Swift’s “Anti Hero” will be up against SZA’s “Kill Bill,” Doja Cat’s “Attention,” Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers,” Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire” and Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy.” Rodrigo, who just released her second studio album, arrived in a custom Ludovic de Saint Serni gown made of Swarovski crystals and her her iconic “Guts” silver ring set.
