The VMAs did not disappoint this year. MTV’s annual biggest night in music lived up to its slogan—with a surplus of exciting performances and celebrity sightings on Tuesday night. As expected, Taylor Swift swept the competition, winning nine awards in total (and clearly having loads of fun while doing so). Meanwhile, Ice Spice was crowned “Best New Artist,” and Shakira won the prestigious Video Vanguard Award, which was promptly followed by an expertly choreographed performance and a ten-minute-long standing ovation.

Hollywood royalty was in attendance as well. For the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Grandmaster Flash teamed up with Nicki Minaj and LL Cool J for a rap medley. Sean “Diddy” Combs even made an appearance... and did a little dance! We're happy for him. In a surprising turn of events, *NSYNC reunited on stage to present Swift with the “Best Pop Video” award.

Before announcing Swift as the winner, Justin Timberlake said, “Hello VMAs. Over 20 years ago, we were just kids when we won best pop video for 'Bye Bye Bye.' It was our first VMA and it meant the world to us—that award validated our hard work.” The boy band then handed Swift friendship bracelets—as a nod to her Eras Tour, of course—before exiting the stage.

The night went on to feature even more jaw-dropping surprises. Catch up on the viral moments from the MTV Video Music Awards—and what music fans had to say about the night—below.
