2023 Equity Jeff Award nominations announced, with the Goodman at the top of the list

Nominations are in for this year’s 55th anniversary Jeff Awards for Equity Theater, with the Goodman Theatre being the most nominated. The Goodman collected 32 entries on the list from nine productions, including for its recent musical “The Who’s Tommy.”

Next is Paramount Theatre in Aurora with 18 nominations, Mercury Theater Chicago with 15, and a tie between Drury Lane Productions, Marriott Theatre and Teatro Vista with 13 each. The nominations are for union-affiliated productions, both plays and musicals, from the Chicago area’s larger Equity theaters, as selected by the all-volunteer committee for the Joseph Jefferson Awards. The deep list this year includes shows from 35 companies.

The award ceremony will be on Oct. 2, back at the Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. Details on the program and tickets will be announced soon; more information at jeffawards.org
