Scroll through our photo gallery to see our official 2023 Emmy predictions for Best Comedy Actress. With reigning back-to-back champ Jean Smart (“Hacks”) out of the running, this year’s Best Comedy Actress Emmy race is wide open, even now that the field has been narrowed down to five official nominees. The final slate includes an even mix of repeat contenders and newcomers, any of whom could go all the way.
Current frontrunner Quinta Brunson (ABC’s “Abbott Elementary”) has received her second consecutive bid in this category and once again faces 2018 winner Rachel Brosnahan, who succeeded in being recognized for all five seasons of Prime Video’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” Christina Applegate also just achieved a perfect nominations record for Netflix’s “Dead to Me,” which recently concluded after three seasons.
