2023 CMA Awards: Ashley McBryde leaves a 'Light On In The Kitchen' in powerful performance

Ashley McBryde's 2023 CMA Awards performance of "Light On In The Kitchen" arrives at a fascinating point in her career.

Singing in a black sparkly pantsuit with her guitar, McBryde delivered a powerful message under an array of hanging kitchen lamps.

Between the CMA award-nominated 2022-released album "Ashley McBryde presents: Lindeville" and her current album "The Devil I Know" (featuring the previously named single), she's in the midst of a cycle of roughly two dozen tracks -- the one she was rousingly applauded for live at Bridgestone Arena included -- that has redefined her career from being a "Girl Going Nowhere" to a CMA and Grammy-winning artist and Grand Ole Opry member.

"There's been a lot of excitement in my camp about creating the most personally fulfilling work," McBryde stated to The Tennessean.

"To be validated so powerfully answers the question of Ashley's right to be so joyously in control of herself as an unpretentious beacon of vulnerable openness," stated McBryde's manager, John Peets, to The Tennessean in a September feature.

Of the numerous homespun wisdoms in "Light On In The Kitchen," the refrain including "honey, trust yourself / You better love yourself" rings loudest.

"It's wonderful to be surrounded by honest songs played by real musicians with real instruments and amplifiers playing real music. Hearing these songs played live is causing really honest emotions -- sometimes fear, eventually always love -- to come out of people, which I love watching happen."
