Lego has officially announced its Speed Champions sets for 2022. The five new sets feature seven unique vehicles to build and will be available for purchase March 1. The cars are a welcome addition to the already stout selection of Speed Champions sets and are much more affordable than the Technic sets. Ranging in price from about $20 to $40, the new sets are perfect for an inexpensive weekend of building.

The sets and their pricing are as follows:

Per usual, the cars are a faithful representation of their real-life inspirations—but I have a few observations. The F1 W12 looks fantastically tricky, while the Ferrari 512 M and the Countach appear to be exceptionally accurate mini re-creations of their legendary gas-guzzling counterparts. However, the Lego Lotus features a yellow shoulder line that runs up on the side window—in the real Evija, it rides along the top of the door. I wonder why that isn't true for the Lego version.

Look for the new Speed Champions sets to arrive in the Lego store on March 1.

If you need to scratch that Lego itch sooner, then check out the cool promo that's going on now. Through February 13, a Vintage Lego Taxi gift will be added to your cart on orders over $200. It's a pricey promotion, but the taxi has potential to become a nice little collectors' piece. So if you go on a building splurge, enjoy the complimentary gift courtesy of the brickmasters at Lego.
