Demand for Crocs surge as the rubber clog continues to be the ‘it’ house shoe

As many of us abide by stay-at-home orders, our jeans and favorite shoes have been substituted for slippers and sweatpants.

According to Lyst’s “Stay At Home’ Searches” live data blog, “Searches for Crocs have spiked 32% month-on-month and demand continues to increase.” The report also states that the shoe has become “the ‘It’ shoe of spring” and “floral and leopard prints Crocs have been especially popular.”

Aside from its growing demand, Crocs has also become one of the leading fashion companies stepping up its philanthropic efforts during the current global pandemic. The brand has been working with retailers like Zappos, Bank Of America, Citi, Famous Footwear and more to donate 10,000 pairs of shoes per day to healthcare workers who are on the frontline battling COVID-19.

“If you’re a healthcare professional in need of our easy to clean, comfortable Crocs shoes, we’ve got you taken care of…” Crocs states on its website.

The classic rubber clogs are made from the brand’s patented Croslite foam that provides cushioning for all-day comfort and support. The shoes feature flexible 360-degree comfort and are water-proof, making them easy to clean and quick to try. The brand also offers a slew of different styles like slide sandals, flip-flops, sneakers and loafers.

After the brand’s initial 2002 launch, Crocs became the underdog of footwear. No one expected the success and longevity of the so-called “ugly” shoe. Just last year, Business Insider profiled the brand with an article titled “Crocs’ ugly fashion status is part of its business strategy,” explaining “the Crocs clog is perhaps the most divisive shoe on the market… In fact, the difference in opinion between the lovers and the haters is so extreme that the debate often feels more appropriate for politics, not fashion.”

However, you can’t put a price on comfort and right now, that’s all customers seem to be looking for.

Whether it be for running errands or lounging around the house (my dad personally wears his Crocs solely for barbecuing), we’ve rounded up our favorite Crocs across the web from all different retailers, including colors that you can snag on super sale! Your new favorite house shoe awaits…
