If you thought celebrity award shows had killer food by world class chefs, think again. Sometimes, a homemade turkey sandwich is far superior to whatever the Academy is dishing up. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actress Julia Butters brought a turkey sandwich to the Oscars — and she carried the snack in a bag that costs more than two grand.
The exact bag the 10-year-old breakout star housed her snack in was a pink crystal orb bag by the luxury brand Marzook. The clutch retails for a cool $2,495, making it more pricey than your average Ziplock.
"I don't like some of the food here," the actress told Los Angeles Times reporter Amy Kaufman of why she brought her own choice sandwich. Kaufman tweeted the quote, along with a picture of Butters revealing the sandwich inside her purse. The tweet quickly went viral during the Oscars red carpet with more than 50,000 likes and 6,500 retweets.
Butters wasn’t shy about sharing her hack for sneaking in some grub to the biggest night in Hollywood. She also told Entertainment Tonight about her stashed snack.
The actress told ET on the red carpet, “There is a sandwich in my purse because I was smart this time. The other awards I was hungry — I was starving — and sometimes, either, they don't have food or I don't care for the food.” Truly a young genius.
Kaufman later tweeted that she chatted with Butters at the post-Oscars Vanity Fair After Party. She did indeed eat the sandwich.
If you plan to head to a fancy event and need somewhere discreet to hide your turkey sandwich, these spherical, bedazzled clutches will get the job done in style. Plus they will set you back around $60, not $2,500.
