The 2019 InStyle Awards descended upon the Getty Center in Los Angeles on Monday evening during an intimate dinner designed to celebrate Hollywood’s best and brightest talent. The artwork on the walls of the Getty Museum? Stunning, obviously. But stars like Julia Louis-Dreyfus (who took home the Icon Award), Jameela Jamil, Connie Britton, Rachel Zoe and more gave the works of art on the wall a run for their money.

So, who took home some hardware? In addition to Louis-Dreyfus scoring the much-deserved Icon Award, Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte were recognized as a duo for Designer of the Year, actress Kiki Layne as the Style Star of the Year, Daniel Martin (Meghan Markle’s makeup guru) as Make-Up Artist of the Year, Adir Abergel as Hair Stylist of the Year, Law Roach as Fashion Stylist of the Year, Bill Hader as the Man of Style, Christy Turlington Burns as Advocate of the Year, and the badass U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team was fittingly recognized with the Badass Women of the Year award.

The honorees weren’t the only ones threatening to upstage the artwork, either. Jessica Alba, D’Arcy Carden, Kirsten Dunst, Jennifer Garner, Tony Hale, Ellen Pompeo, Amandla Stenberg, Amber Valletta and Zendaya were all dressed to impress as presenters. The ceremony was hosted by InStyle Editor-in-Chief Laura Brown. Of course, there were plenty of familiar faces in the crowd as well. Other special guests of the evening included Lake Bell, Rachel Bilson, Connie Britton, Sophia Bush, Dove Cameron, Jessica Capshaw, Kaley Cuoco, Nina Dobrev, Jameela Jamil, January Jones, Rachel Zoe and, well, many more — all dressed to the nines and clearly enjoying themselves as they posed for pictures and reveled in each other’s company.

So, yeah, the style was on point.

Dunst looked dreamy in pastel Rodarte introducing the Mulleavys.

And while the winning looks on display by all of the celebrities in attendance turned out to be one of the night’s huge highlights, some of the night’s best moments revolved around connection. When Garner presented Abergel with the Hair Stylist of the Year award, she (playfully) made it clear she doesn’t want to share her bestie-slash-secret weapon. “18 years ago, as Adir was just rounding the curve out of puberty, he did my hair for maybe a quarter of a page in the back of Jane Magazine — and we have been together ever since. Obviously, there’s nobody more important in your life than your hairdresser, so I think I can tell you a little bit about him with some authority… Every woman in this town thinks that he’s their best friend, but surprise, it’s me,” Garner joked.

There was also Heder’s acceptance speech, which clearly delighted the audience.

ICYMI, InStyle has a great rundown of other moments from its fifth annual awards ceremony so you can get caught up on one of Hollywood’s most empowering nights.
