2019 CMT Music Awards: Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Zac Brown Band lead nominees

Nominations for the 2019 CMT Music Awards were announced Tuesday morning and there’s a five-way tie for the leading nominee. Brothers Osborne, Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert and Zac Brown Band have three nods each.

Other multiple nominees include Luke Combs, Brandi Carlile, Carrie Underwood, Cole Swindell, Dan + Shay, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Julia Michaels, Kacey Musgraves, Kane Brown, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, the award show’s host Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Sugarland and Taylor Swift.

The 2019 CMT Music Awards will air live from Nashville at 7 p.m. June 5 on the network.

Nominations are vast this year in both number and musical diversity. The top category, Video of the Year, has 14 contenders. That includes Underwood who, with 18 wins, is the most awarded artist in the fan-voted award show’s history. The 2019 CMT Music Awards opened its proverbial ballot box at vote.cmt.com Tuesday, May 7. Voting will close at 10:59 p.m. June 4. With those votes in hand, Video of the Year will be whittled to five nominees that will be announced the morning of the show. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite video all day and throughout the show on Twitter to choose the winner.

As in past years, the CMT Music Awards welcome multi-genre collaborations. This year’s nominations span pop, soul and R&B, and include up-and-comers, stalwarts and stadium headliners, many of which are being recognized by CMT for the first time. R&B group Boyz II Men, soul singer Leon Bridges, Gladys Knight, contemporary pop star Shawn Mendes, singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and rock/Americana Grammy winner Brandi Carlile nabbed their first CMT Awards mentions this year, as did new country music favorites Ashley McBryde, Jimmie Allen, Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Morgan Wallen, Runaway June and Tenille Towns.
