20-Year-Old Gets Redemption After Being Bullied for Immaturity

Wolfgang Puck was on hand to judge some dishes on MasterChef, and Nathan Barnhouse, the 20-year-old tuxedo salesman from Slippery Rock, Pa., did not put his best foot forward. Chef Gordon Ramsay was embarrassed by Nathan’s dish, for which he had a particularly specific description: “The cauliflower is sort of smelly, like a dirty sock in there.”

Nathan is the youngest chef this season, and Ramsay said his dish showed a lack of maturity. That comment hit a nerve for Nathan, who said he was bullied while growing up for being immature. So with one more challenge to go, the 20-year-old made sure to up his game and show his maturity.

Not only did Ramsay love Nathan’s second dish; he named the tuxedo salesman the winner of the challenge. When Nathan was asked if he had anything to say to all the people who thought he was immature, Nathan responded, “I say, they’re wrong, 100%!”
