2 Women Dominate the ‘American Ninja Warrior’ Course

It was ladies’ night as American Ninja Warrior traveled to Cleveland for a national qualifying round. In the four events leading up to Cleveland, no woman had managed to complete a course this year. But all that changed when schoolteacher Allyssa Beird stepped up to the challenge.

Beird, 25, dazzled the audience as she became the first woman to hit the buzzer this season. Afterwards she said, “I’m just glad to represent the women here, and we’re getting stronger and stronger every year, so this is pretty cool.”

And while Beird was the first woman to complete the course this season, she wasn’t the only woman to accomplish that feat. Female ninja Jesse Labreck also hit the buzzer later in the show.

Beird and Labreck’s accomplishments were historic because two women have never completed the same course before. Look for them to put on quite the show during the finals.

American Ninja Warrior airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
