2 The Witcher Spin-off Shows Reportedly Canceled by Netflix

According to What’s On Netflix, the mega streamer has reportedly already canceled two of its originally planned The Witcher spin-off shows, including the long-rumored The Rats prequel and an untitled kid-friendly spin-off. This comes after the main Witcher series has recently begun filming its fourth season, which will now be led by The Hunger Games alum Liam Hemsworth.

The Rats would have starred Dolph Lundgren, Ben Radcliffe, Christelle Elwin, Fabian McCallum, Aggy K. Adams, Juliette Alexandra, Connor Crawford, Deoudone van der Merwe, Morgan Santo, and Stevel Marc. The titular characters actually appeared in The Witcher Season 3 finale, where they were introduced as a band of young misfits who resorted to a life of crime due to the war.

The Witcher Ending with Season 5

Ahead of The Witcher Season 4’s premiere, Netflix recently confirmed that the main series will officially be ending its run with the fifth installment, which will once again feature Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia. Based on the stories and novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher is created and executive produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who also serves as the showrunner. Despite Henry Cavill’s exit, the final two seasons will continue to star Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Joey Batey as Jaskier.

Later this year, Netflix will be releasing its second Witcher animated movie titled, Sirens of the Deep, following the success of 2021’s The Nightmare of the Wolf. The film will feature the voice of Doug Cockle, who originally played Geralt in CD Projekt Red’s Witcher video game series.
