2 Children, 1 Woman Found Dead in La. Home, Homicide Suspected

Louisiana authorities are investigating the deaths of two children and one women at a family home in an incident that sent another woman and child to the hospital.

On Wednesday morning, police received a call requesting medical assistance inside a Terrytown home, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Jason Rivarde said at a press conference.

When police arrived, they found a woman and two children dead inside the home. The trio appeared to have been the victims of a homicide, Rivarde said. A second woman and a third child were also found by first responders and were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Rivarde declined to comment on the causes of death, citing an ongoing investigation and pending autopsy.

While Rivarde did not release the victims’ identities, the Times-Picayune spoke to the slain children’s grandfather, who said he and the kids had celebrated Mardi Gras together the day before.

“I’m hurting,” Emmett Rhodes, 53, said, according to the newspaper.

Speaking about his loved ones to WWLTV, Rhodes said, “Everybody knew them and everybody loved them.”

It is unknown if the person responsible for the deaths is one of the victims. No arrests have been made, Rivarde said.

When asked if the incident was domestic in nature, or a possible murder-suicide, Rivarde replied, “It could be, we’re examining every possibility we can right now.”
