The rapper told Jimmy Fallon he "felt like maybe I hadn't crossed over the threshold of manhood" because he had never cut the grass before
2 Chainz recently celebrated his birthday, and he bought himself what Jimmy Fallon called an “unbelievable” gift.
The rapper appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon alongside Lil Wayne on Friday as the pair promoted their new single, “Presha,” and their forthcoming joint album, Welcome 2 Collegrove, the long-awaited follow-up to their 2016 collaboration.
Fallon asked 2 Chainz (born Tauheed Epps) how he celebrated his birthday last month — he turned 46 on Sept. 12 — and the rapper replied, “I bought a lawn mower and a strip club.”
When the host asked what made the “It’s a Vibe” singer want to purchase the machine, he shared that he’d always lived in apartments during his upbringing, and once he became a rapper and “had money” he bought a house.
That house has “a rather large yard,” he said, so he has “always” hired people to help him maintain the property.
“So I pay people to do everything for me, like most rich people do. And then I woke up and I said, ‘You know what? I’ve never cut the grass before.’ And I felt like maybe I hadn’t crossed over the threshold of manhood.”
He continued, “And so I woke up and I got me a John Deere.”
The account had both Fallon and Wayne (born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) cracking up, with the “Uneasy” rapper, 42, rendered speechless as he listened, while Fallon praised it as a “great story.”
2 Chainz also made sure to add that the strip club he bought is up and running. “It’s called Candyland, it’s in Atlanta. Make sure you check us out,” he said, adding, “Needless to say, it’s for adults.”
While on the show, the two rappers also talked to Fallon about Welcome 2 ColleGrove. They revealed that the inspiration behind the LP’s title is an ode to both of their upbringings.

“I’m from College Park, [Georgia],” 2 Chainz said, and Wayne added, “And I’m from Hollygrove, [Louisiana].”
“We combined the names, and it’s ColleGrove, so it’s like we created our own universe, our own space,” 2 Chainz further explained of the album, which drops Nov. 17.
The pair also joked about how they first met, with Wayne revealing that 2 Chainz became his go-to source for marijuana when he was recording in Atlanta around 2007.
"Wayne wanted cannabis," 2 Chainz said after Fallon pushed for more details about how the rappers first became friends. "You made me go there," he told the host.
"I didn't know you were gonna go there," Fallon replied.
Wayne said of his friend, “Every time I would go to Atlanta and I wanted to speak about that one thing, I would always call this guy, to talk about that."
"One day, we went in the studio," Wayne continued, adding that 2 Chainz eventually showed him some of his own music — and the “rest is history.”
The pair has been close friends ever since, and Wayne even served as the best man at 2 Chainz’s 2018 wedding to Kesha Ward.
