2 49ers among leaders in Pro Bowl voting

The NFL’s second round of updated Pro Bowl voting was released Thursday and two 49ers are among the league’s leading vote-getters at their positions. Defensive end Nick Bosa and fullback Kyle Juszczyk are San Francisco’s two representatives at the top of the pack.

Bosa is putting together a tremendous third season and first season back from an ACL tear. He has 44 pressures and a pass-rush win rate of 20.2 percent per Pro Football Focus. Bosa has also posted a career-high 11.0 sacks – tied for the most in the NFC with Chicago’s Robert Quinn. He’s also spearheaded a 49ers defense that goes into Week 13 ranked No. 11 in the NFL in points allowed, No. 6 in yards allowed, and 10th in Football Outsiders’ total defensive DVOA.

Juszczyk isn’t nearly as prolific as Bosa in the box score, but he remains one of the 49ers’ most important players on offense and one of the most productive players at his position in a league full of teams phasing the position out. This season Juszcyzk has 21 catches for 210 yards and one touchdown to go along with seven carries for 16 yards. His versatility shines every game for San Francisco when he lines up in front of the running back in an i-formation, or as an H-back, or as a wide receiver, or as a tight end. There aren’t many fullbacks left in the NFL who are utilized on a regular basis and Juszczyk is the best of the ones who are.

Pro Bowl voting ends Dec. 16. Fans make up one-third of the vote, with player votes and coach votes accounting for the other two-thirds. Players and coaches vote Dec. 17 and rosters will be announced Dec. 20.
