Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy you freedom from mundane things like waiting at the airport or picking out your own outfit. However, not every rich person decides to hire help — some still prefer to save money and do things the same way they did before they were famous.

Here are 19 celebs who typically don't use nannies, personal stylists, and other "rich people perks":

1.Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis decided not to employ a nanny when their oldest daughter, Wyatt, was born. On The Ellen Show, Ashton said, "We just want to know our kid. We want to be the people that know what to do when the baby's crying to make the baby not cry anymore."

He continued, "We want to know, like, when she makes a little face or something, we want to be emotionally in touch with her. And I think the only way to do that is by being the one who's there."

2.When Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds's oldest daughter, James, was born, they opted against hiring a nanny. Ryan told GQ, "I'm surprised how patient I am with it. I feel like I could sometimes have a bit of a short fuse, but there's just been this weirdly endless supply of patience. I have no problem waking up five times in the middle of the night and changing diapers, and as exhausted as you get, I have this stupid grin on my face all the time."

"And that’s not because I have a nanny or something like that. It’s just us right now, and I love it," he said.

3.Blake Lively famously serves as her own stylist for big red carpet events, but she also acts as her own hair stylist and makeup artist sometimes.

She told WWD, "It's a lot of work — I mean, it's not hard in that we all dress ourselves every morning. So, once you have the clothes, you just pick out what to wear like any other human being does. But it's easier because you have access to clothes and so it's not that hard. ... The hard part is going through all the fashion shows and screenshotting all the looks you like and calling them in. I have an assistant who helps in calling in the looks. But a lot of it is I have relationships with the designers."

4.After learning by watching makeup artists she worked with early in her career, Zendaya "pretty much [does] all [her] own makeup for events now."

She told British Vogue, "It's very therapeutic for me, especially if I'm ever stressed out before a press junket or a big event. There's something about taking that time to just be with yourself that I find very relaxing."

5.When his relationship with Zendaya was long-distance, Tom Holland reportedly took commercial flights across the world to visit her in Budapest, where she was filming Dune: Part 2.

The friend of a fan's mother reportedly sat next to him on the flight and saw him knitting to pass the time.

6.For a last-minute flight, Claire Danes opted for an affordable ticket rather than a private plane. After winning Best Actress at the 2011 SAG Awards, she told Extra, "I'm flying tonight on coach. I know, I know I feel like I'm bragging now at this point. It's the only seat available, and I have to go back to work tomorrow morning."

She continued, "I get to shower in the hotel, and then I go to set — and act some more. We'll see how tomorrow's scene will be."

7.Rainn Wilson, who's outspoken about climate change, flies commercial. He recently sat beside an unsuspecting fan who watched reruns of The Office for the entire five-and-a-half-hour flight without noticing he was next to Dwight Schrute himself.

On The Drew Barrymore Show, he said, "I posted about it, and people were freaking out. And as we were landing, I kinda nudged him. I'm like, 'You seem to like that show, huh?' And he's like, 'Oh, yeah, it's my favorite show.' I was like, 'Yeah, I heard it wasn't so good. Tell me about it.' And then I was slowly, slowly taking my mask off. I was like, 'Oh, this is gonna be delicious!' And he was like, 'Yeah, I, um, well, it starts slow. The first season's kind of weak, and you kinda got to get to know the characters a little bit, but if you stick with it...' And then he's like [face explosion]. He couldn't believe it. It was a really beautiful, magical experience."

8.Chance the Rapper also flies commercial. On a recent flight with his daughter, Kensli, he realized their seats weren't together. He didn't want to " inconvenience anyone by asking them to swap seats," but before he could say anything, Martin Short offered his seat to the 7-year-old.

On Twitter, Chance said, "We both said thank you, and as he stands up, I realize it's THE Martin Short!! So cool and Kensli freaked out cause she's obsessed with The Santa Clause 3. What an awesome person! SHOUTOUT TO JACK FROST."

9.Though Ashley Greene enjoyed flying first class during her Twilight years, she gave it up after wrapping up the final press tour. She told Marie Claire, "When this is all over, flying internationally is going to be very hard for me. It is just not worth it to buy a first-class ticket, because of the cost."

She continued, "I'm lucky because my dad taught me how to be frugal and save. And that's important because I want to know that I don't have to take an acting job for two or three years if I don't want to and that I'll still be able to make my house and car payments and buy food for my dogs."

10.Rather than hiring a nanny, Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling got help from their families when caring for their oldest daughter, Esmeralda. Eva told The Wendy Williams Show, "I've never appreciated my family so much, they've been amazing. I don't technically have a nanny, but I do have help."

She continued, "I like to clarify. I'm certainly not anti-nanny, you do what you need to do as a parent, but I'm so grateful that I have help with my family and [Ryan's] family."

11.When Cardi B first found out she and Offset were expecting their eldest, their daughter Kulture, she thought she'd have a nanny. However, after giving birth, she changed her mind. She told Vogue, "When the baby got here, I couldn't even think about getting a nanny because I was afraid of anybody being around her besides my family. I've never had a nanny for Kulture."

She and Offset depend on each other and their extended families for help, but they don't want to make their children someone else's responsibility.

Cardi said, "Your parents have already lived their life and raised their kids. They are older and don't have the same energy as someone in their 20s. I'm never far from my kids because that's my responsibility as a mother."

12.Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom only have part-time childcare for their daughter, Daisy. Katy told the SmartLess podcast, "I have a wonderful nanny, but I don't have a full-time nanny because I feel like, if I had a full-time nanny, then I would never be able to know how to care for my daughter like I'm meant to."

She continued, "Any day I get off, I’m just in mom mode. It doesn't matter if I've had a show that goes to 11 p.m. the night before, I’m waking up at 6 o'clock, and we're gonna go and do breakfast."

13.Rather than purchase all-new clothing for herself and her three kids, Sarah Jessica Parker fills their closets with secondhand finds. She told InStyle, "Almost 100 percent of my son's T-shirts are used. And he buys a lot of his items at thrift shops. My daughters all wear hand-me-downs. We've been passing down clothes in my family for almost three generations."

On the rare occasions she decides to buy herself something new, she considers this important question: "Is this a piece I want to have 10 or 15 years from now?"

14.Bryce Dallas Howard buys her own red carpet dresses off the rack or online, and she often spends less than $500 on each one. She also gave up on having a stylist for two reasons — finding outfits was challenging because she isn't sample size, and the cost of tailoring and the stylist's fee felt like too much.

She told Vanity Fair, "There were these two giant bills right around the time when I was having my first child that sent me into a tailspin..." At the time, her studio stepped in to cover the stylist fee. Afterwards, she and her agent negotiated to get her a budget to do her own shopping for press tours.

She continued, "I realized that I needed to stop trying to have a conversation with fashion. That I just needed to get back to having a conversation with myself, in what just looks and feels best for this thing that I'm going to tonight. ... Honestly, before these kind of press-related style interventions, I would spend an average of $200 a year on clothes."

15.Jameela Jamil began doing her own makeup for The Good Place halfway through Season 1. She also does her own hair and makeup for events. When it comes to red carpet outfits, she's "never had a stylist."

She told Glamour, "I realized that the [hair and makeup artists] were getting in at, like, 4:45 or 4:30 in the morning. Sometimes 4:15. I realized we had an hour and 45 minutes in hair and makeup, and I just sort of went to the producers of The Good Place and was like, 'How ugly do you think I am? There's no prosthetics on me.' I need half an hour in hair and makeup? I'll do my own makeup. And so I did my own makeup for the show, and someone else did my hair. I got the same amount of time for hair and makeup as the boys. Because I can't be funny when I'm tired."

16.January Jones doesn't have a stylist because she doesn't "like the idea of paying people to tell [her] that something looks good."

She told Elle, "If I don't feel it myself, why would I wear it?"

17.Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. divvy up household chores rather than depending on hired help. Sarah told People, "Freddie does the big chef cooking, and I wind up helping with the dishes. He'll say helping, I wind up doing them all. But now, I can just shove them in the dishwasher, so it's easier."

Their kids also help around the house.

Freddie said, "We just try to make the kids own what they do as a way of giving them a sense of responsibility, so my kids wash their own dishes. ... They make their own beds, clean their own rooms, they’re responsible for their toys."

18.To the shock of her Girls Trip costars (especially Jada Pinkett Smith), Tiffany Haddish shamelessly carried her "fake Michael Kors purse" and used Groupon.

Jada told her she "needed" a designer bag and gifted her a Fendi.

She told People, "I'm probably going to be cheap with my money for a long time. You know I’ve been homeless, so it's like, 'Yeah it's here now, but will it be here in five years?' I don’t know. ... [When I invite my costars to a restaurant I have a Groupon for], they be like, 'No, Tiffany, we pay for it,' and I'm like, 'No, let's get it on a discount. We can use that money to help kids or something!'"

19.And finally, in 2010, Vincent Kartheiser opted to give up his car in favor of public transportation. He also lived in a house that was essentially "just a wooden box." He told the Guardian, "Because I don't have a car, I don't really go anywhere to buy things. In fact, I have been in a slow process of selling and giving away everything I own. ... Like, I don't have a toilet at the moment...I mean I am planning to get a toilet at some point. But for now, I have to go to the neighbors. I threw it all out."

He explained that he chose this lifestyle to reject the excess of Hollywood.

He said, "It started a couple of years ago. It was in response to going to these Golden Globe-type events, and they just give you stuff. You don't want it. You don't use it. And then, Mad Men started to become a success on a popular level, and people started sending me stuff, just boxes of shit. Gifts for every holiday, clothes. One day, I looked around and thought, 'I don't want this stuff, I didn't ask for it'. So, I started giving it to friends or charity stores, or if it is still in its box, I might sell it for a hundred bucks. I liked it, so I didn't stop."
