17 local chefs featured at annual breast cancer research fundraiser Uncork for the Cure

Tickets are on sale for Uncork for the Cure, metro Detroit's premier breast cancer fundraiser that features an array of culinary delights paired with wine to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Now in its 8th year, Uncork for a Cure brings together a host of metro Detroit restaurants and wine enthusiasts showcasing their culinary talents and creations. The event is 6-10 p.m. Saturday and takes place at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac. Hosted by the Dynami Foundation, funds raised go toward research, education, patient support and the fight against breast cancer.

Guests can expect culinary creations from award-winning chefs, including Spanish octopus, shakshuka, lamb sausage and crab crostini. Expect an array of world-class wines, music and art, plus live and silent auctions. There will be M1 Ferrari track rides hosted by Cauley Ferrari.

This year’s event has 17 participating chefs, including the recently opened Brine Oyster House. Others participating include award-winning eateries including Apparatus Room, Bar Pigalle, Barda, Basan, Chartreuse, Chickpea Hospitality, Grey Ghost, Hero's Night, Mabel Gray, Marrow, Motor City Seafood, Oak & Reel, Selden Standard, SheWolf, Thyme and Honey and Takoi.

Master Sommelier Madeline Triffon will curate wines featured at the event along with several other sommeliers and wine professionals.

Metro Detroit artist Mike Han will be live on-site painting a canvas for auction while a gallery of artwork from several artists curated by Mary Wysocki of Paragon Art Collective will be featured. Uncork for a Cure, to date, has raised more than $2 million, funded a dozen research projects and provided grants to 20 metro Detroit women in need, according to event organizers.

General admission tickets for this year’s Uncork for a Cure are $375 and are available at dynamifoundation.org. VIP tickets offer early 5 p.m. access, and sponsorship packages are also available.
