Eight Men Out (1988)

Just in time for baseball season, this semi-fictionalized account of the scandal surrounding the 1919 World Series, aka the Black Sox Scandal, is a great story about the Chicago White Sox being odds-on-favorites to win the World Series.

In come professional gamblers looking to fix the game, especially with the players feeling underpaid and unappreciated by team owner Charles Comiskey. One of our favorite movies to watch on Tubi!

Bill Durham (1988)

Another movie just in time to stream during baseball season, this rom-com sports themed film stars Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. It begins at the outset of the minor league baseball season when Annie Savoy (Sarandon) is going through her annual process of choosing one player on her home team of the Durham Bulls who she will take under her wing, sexually and otherwise.

History proves her pick always has gone on to have his best year as a player, and the choices have been narrowed down to wild pitcher Ebby Calvin LaLoosh (Robbins) and veteran catcher Crash Davis (Costner). May the best player win.
