15 Austin restaurants are planning to open in 2024. Here's what we know.

The New Year always brings with it the excited anticipation of restaurant openings. Where will you be dining in 2024? Probably at some of these restaurants.

New locations of existing favorites and concepts seeing their first light will roll out throughout the year, from Cedar Park to Buda. Below is a list of some of the places we're keeping an eye on for 2024.

Bambino

Principals and concept: L’Oca d’Oro owners chef Fiore Tedesco and Adam Orman’s casual pizzeria, serving what owners call a “thoughtful and playful high-low menu, pulling together a selection of seasonal rotating pies made with long and naturally fermented dough; comforting antipasti from mozzarella sticks with cacio e pepe sauce to a little gems caesar; thoughtfully selected tinned fish; a quintessential burger of the day; and desserts inspired by Fiore’s childhood, like Italian-style soft serve and cookies.”

Building on their sustainable and employee-focused model at L’Oca d’Oro – and Orman’s role in co-founding Good Work Austin – Bambino will offer a $17-per-hour starting base pay; include a service charge to guarantee a living wage for all employees; offer direct primary care health memberships; predictive scheduling; paid time off; and subsidized mental health benefits.

Chalmers

Principals and concept: The folks behind Armadillo Den, Nickel City and Murray’s are creating a Texas ice house with massive outdoor areas, TVs for sports, a stage for live music, an in-house restaurant and two food trucks.

Location: East Cesar Chavez Street and Chalmers Avenue

ETA: First quarter

Dainty Dillo

Principals and concept: The team behind massive South Austin hangout the Armadillo Den is bringing its outdoor-centric bar concept to a smaller space on the east side, taking over the former Tillery Bar and Kitchen location overlooking the Colorado River. Dainty Dillo will also offer an on-site kitchen.

Location: 3201 E. Cesar Chavez St.

Fresa’s Mueller

One of Austin's premier fast-casual Mexican restaurants, Fresa's, will open in Mueller in 2024.

Principals and concept: Chef Rene Ortiz and his partners will bring their grilled meats and Mexican cuisine to Mueller. It will be the fourth location of the business that started as a drive-thru and walk-up operation on Lamar Boulevard.

Location: 1414 E. 51st St. in the forthcoming Solomon apartment building

Garbo's

Principals and location: The Gateway to the Hill Country will get a taste of the Atlantic as Heidi Garbo opens the third location of her eponymous seafood restaurants that specialize in lobster rolls. Longtime Austin bar and wine expert Josh Loving of Small Victory will serve as beverage director.

G'Raj Mahal

Principals and concept: Do call it a comeback. G’Raj Mahal was around in the aughts, when Rainey Street still felt a little weird, in large part due to the Texas-Indian fusion food truck. Sidney Roberts moved the restaurant into a brick-and-mortar space on Rainey for about six years. Roberts is now rebooting the concept in East Austin with the partnership of Present Tense Hospitality, a nascent group co-founded by Salt & Time co-owner Ben Runkle. The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner with many dishes familiar to long-time customers, as well as new items.

Jack Allen’s Kitchen

Principals and concept: One of Austin’s most tenured and influential chefs, Jack Gilmore, brings his brand of upmarket comfort food to the Hutto Co-Op District, joining Southside Market, Top Notch Burgers and Cocina Jalisco.

Jo’s Coffee

Principals and concept: The Bunkhouse-operated coffee shop that everyone loves so much will open its first location inside of a residential building.

Location: Symphony Square, 1102 Sabine St.

LeRoy and Lewis

LeRoy and Lewis brings its New School Barbecue to a brick-and-mortar restaurant in early 2024.

Principals and concept: Evan LeRoy, Sawyer Lewis and their team of meat-smoking and hospitality experts at one of the top three barbecue joints in town, are opening a brick-and-mortar location of their popular truck (which will remain open). The building, which has a full bar, will also feature a retail space selling beer and wine, packaged barbecue goods, merchandise and more.

Loro

Loro blends the smokiness for which Aaron Franklin is famous with the Asian flavors found at Tyson Cole's Uchi.

Principals and concept: The Hai Hospitality team rolls out its second Austin location of the Asian smokehouse created by Uchi’s Tyson Cole and barbecue wiz Aaron Franklin.

Oakwood Public Market

Oakwood Public Market will be the first business of its kind in Dripping Springs.

Principals and concept: Ben Cachila, an Uchi veteran and partner in Old Thousand, and TLC owner Judson Rue are opening this dining and retail market in the Headwaters Commercial project developed by partners Blake Rue, Judson Sutherland and Cachila. The partners describe it as an “old school public market with a modern twist, with food, family and local purveyors.”

Peached Tortilla - Cedar Park

Principals and concept: Chef-owner Eric Silverstein brings his Southern-Asian fusion to Cedar Park in a space that will have indoor and outdoor seating. The menu will feature dishes familiar to Peached Tortilla regulars and some dishes unique to the new location.

Location: 1915 E. Whitestone Blvd., in the new Arrow Point development

Rabbit Hole

Principals and concept: Matt Morcher and Sandra Cleveland are replicating their Leander cocktail bar closer to Cedar Park, where they will also offer live music.

Location: 320 Ronald Reagan Blvd., in the Reagan Shopping Center

Redbud Ice House

Principals and concept: Olamaie chef-owner Michael Fojtasek and his MaieB Hospitality team are partnering with former Contigo owners Ben Edgerton and Andrew Wiseheart and Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches owners Noah and Laura Lit on a casual burgers-and-beer joint in the old Conitgo space.

The Statesman

Principals and concept: No, the newspaper is not opening a restaurant. This supper club and cocktail concept comes from a team that includes executive chef Dan Kennedy. The chef who has worked for big names such as Ludo Lefebvre at Trois Mec and Michael Voltaggio at Ink has created an American menu that includes seafood towers, pasta dishes and chicken parm. The cocktail menu was created by veteran Austin barman and Alamo Drafthouse veteran Bill Norris.
