The red carpet will be missing one of its regulars: Ryan Seacrest.

For 14 years, Seacrest has walked and talked with the stars on "E!’s Live from the Red Carpet." In an award season when red carpets have been scarce due to the coronavirus pandemic, Seacrest has announced that he is leaving his co-host position behind.

"I’ll miss the whole crew that works so hard behind the scenes and of course my amazing partner Giuliana (Rancic)," Seacrest wrote on Instagram Tuesday. "Thanks to everyone for watching all these years."

His job on the red carpet was just one of many Seacrest holds in the entertainment industry. Seacrest has hosted "American Idol" since its inception, first on Fox and now ABC; he also has his own radio show "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" and has co-hosted a daytime talk show with Kelly Ripa, now called "Live with Kelly and Ryan," since 2017.

In E!'s statement to USA TODAY, the network says it still considers the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" producer to be part of the family. "He has been instrumental in giving viewers a front row seat to some of Hollywood’s biggest nights. We are extremely appreciative of his many contributions and he will always be part of the E! family.”

Last summer, the famed entertainment host experienced a health scare that he attributed to exhaustion. After being visibly tired while hosting the finale of "American Idol," from his Los Angeles home, fans expressed concerns over his health.

The next week he appeared on "Live with Kelly and Ryan" to show gratitude for "all the very kind well-wishes for my exhaustion, working around the clock. I got a day off to relax and here we are once again."

While a longtime staple of E!'s red carpet coverage, the entertainment host faced backlash during the 2019 Golden Globes red carpet show for showing off a black bracelet in support of the Time's Up movement, which is dedicated to confronting abuse of power and promoting workplace equality. Some viewers were quick to point out that in the previous year, Seacrest was accused of sexual misconduct.

Seacrest's former stylist claimed in a Variety story that she was subjected to unwanted touching by the talk show host. Seacrest denied the allegations against him and an internal E! investigation cleared him of any misconduct.

Seacrest is set to return as co-host of American Idol for its new season Feb.14 (8 EST/PST).
