14 Famous Men Who've Opened Up About The Highs And Lows Of Getting Cosmetic Procedures

This post deals with topics like body dysmorphic disorder and opioid addiction.

1.Marc Jacobs opened up about the facelift he got back in 2021, saying that the reason he got the surgery was because he was at a point where injections and minor procedures were "not going to be effective."

He told Vogue, "What was really bothering me was my neck and how loose the skin was. I started to become very conservative with the Botox because I don't like the way guys looked when they were, like, very Botox’d and even with the filler, it seemed like it was just becoming too much. So I started doing thread lifts to hold up my jowls and the area of my face where the skin was sagging. But I found that those were only effective for a very short period of time. The fillers were too heavy, and the threads didn't really hold anything up anymore. So Dr. Frank said, ‘I can continue doing stuff to your face, but it's really not going to help much. It's not going to be effective. You're at that time where I think you should consider a surgery that requires cutting rather than, like, injecting.’"

2.Joe Jonas opened up about getting Xeomin injectables, which are similar to Botox but are a pure form of botulinum toxin without any stabilizing proteins. He said, "There's this stigma, especially with men, around getting injectables. I have many guy friends who have done it, and they're shy to speak on it."

"Maybe just because it's not something that we, or at least for myself, [I was] around much growing up," he added. "There's just this idea that this is something we don't talk about. But I like the idea that we can break that and have a conversation where it's not a big deal."

3.Kanye West shared that he got liposuction because he "wanted to look good" for his fans. He added that during his recovery, he got addicted to the pain medication that doctors prescribed him.

"I got liposuction because I didn't want y'all to call me fat like y'all called Rob [Kardashian] at the wedding and made him fly home before me and Kim got married. I didn't want y'all to call me fat so I got liposuction, right? And they gave me opioids, right? And I started taking two of them and then driving to work on the opioids," he said.

"Over the years as my hair kept thinning, I kept secretly getting more procedures & would just pray that no one would find out," he continued. "Why? Why did I care so much? What does that say about me? Being a vain actor in an industry that rewards beauty, I vowed to keep this my secret forever. I feel SO stupid saying that, but it’s my truth. As if someone finding out would somehow negate my talent, or make me less viable or valuable in the world."

5.Jersey Shore star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro decided to get liposuction so his abs would look more defined after not being able to hit the gym as much since his daughter was born. He said, “Today I’m going to step out of my element and try something new with my body."

He added, “I’ve always been a workout fanatic, and I’ve also always been in shape, but it takes a lot of hard work to stay in shape. One year ago today, my life completely changed. I had a little baby girl. She’s like my guardian angel, and now I can’t spend two to three hours every day in the gym like I used to.”

Years later, he received another nose surgery, saying, "Now I am pretty again," and adding that he still had one more surgery to go.

11.Kenny Rogers opened up about getting plastic surgery saying, "One of those things that I think everybody [does], you look at yourself and you go 'Could I be better if I did this? Or I did that?' And I did it. The guy who did [the surgery] was one of the world's best. But he just had this concept that the edge of your eyes had to be higher than a certain place, and I regret that."

And while the procedure wasn't exactly what he was expecting, he's learned to live with it. He said, "There was a time when I had a lot of money and a lot of time. I thought, 'What the hell, I'll go do something.' Dolly [Parton] and I used to laugh about it. It was all for the sake of what I thought was looking better. I'm not sure what I'd look like if I hadn't done it, so I'm happy."

12.Vanderpump Rules star Jax Taylor revealed that he's undergone multiple nose jobs, explaining, "The reason I've gotten so many is not because the doctor was terrible but because I'm an idiot, and I didn't listen to my doctor. I was filming at the time. I did everything that I wasn't supposed to do."

14.Finally, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Botched star Dr. Paul Nassif underwent a facelift and explained, “The excess skin, especially in my neck, was driving me crazy."

The particular surgery he received is called a deep plane facelift, which is meant to deliver the most realistic results a facelift can give. Dr. Andrew Jacono, who did the procedure, explained, “It’s the kind of facelift that works under the face of the muscles. It doesn’t tighten the surface, which is obviously very important for anybody, but especially for a man. If their face looks in any way tight, it makes the face look feminized.”
