12 Celebrity Ghosts And 1 Celebrity Curse That I Find Chilling And Fascinating
1.John Belushi is said to haunt Chateau Marmont, an exclusive hotel popular with A-list celebrities.
He overdosed in Bungalow 3 on March 5, 1982 and was found two days later by his bodyguard and fitness trainer. In 1999, a family moved into Bungalow 3 while their house was being renovated, and the 2-year-old claimed to be laughing a lot because of the "funny man." When his mom was going through a book seeing the famous guests of Chateau Marmont, the boy pointed to Belushi's picture and said, "Funny man!"
2.Marilyn Monroe had a floor-length mirror in her second-floor cabana suite at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel that people say they can still see her in.
After her death, the mirror was put into the manager's office. A housekeeper cleaning the mirror one day said they saw the reflection of a sad-looking blonde woman. When the housekeeper asked the woman what was wrong, the woman disappeared.
3.Montgomery Clift also haunts the Hollywood Roosevelt.
He stayed on the ninth floor for three months while filming From Here to Eternity and would often be found pacing the hall while going over his lines. He also used his room to practice his bugle horn for the role, which can still, at times, be heard by hotel guests.
4.Wayne Newton swears he's seen Elvis's ghost on the balcony of the Las Vegas Hilton.
Wayne was performing one night and was told one of the balconies was going to be empty. When he started to sing a medley of Elvis songs to honor his late friend, Gordon Prouty, VP of Public Relations for Westgate Hotels, said Wayne saw Elvis from the closed-off balcony. "Elvis looked down at Wayne. He looked at peace, smiled at him. And when Wayne tells the story, he said it made him feel that Elvis was telling him he was okay and was appreciating the performance."
5.Lucille Ball is said to still haunt her former Beverly Hills home.
A friend of hers was driving through the neighborhood of the house, which was completely remodeled to look totally different after the new owners felt they were plagued by tourists. The eyewitness talks about driving by and seeing a "tall, slim redhead peering through the fence at what was left. She turned toward him, and he realized it was Lucy. She looked upset and confused. She then walked around the south corner of the house and disappeared."
6.Rudolph Valentino is said to appear at the Paramount Pictures lot where he worked.
Valentino died in 1926 at the age of 31. He's buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery next door and is said to be seen roaming the lot in the costume he wore for The Sheik.
7.Liberace is said to haunt Carluccio's Tivoli Gardens, a restaurant he used to own in Las Vegas.
After dying in 1987, Liberace can allegedly be seen in his Italian restaurant he opened in Vegas. One Carluccio's employee was polishing a mirror when they saw a big glittery cape float up behind them. When they turned around, it was gone. Carluccio's closed down in 2011 and reopened in the same location this past May.
8.Walt Disney's spirit is said to still be at Disneyland.
Former cast member Darrold Wagner told SF Gate, “The train command center has a board that shows where the trains are on the track. Late at night, in the far corner, a train would show on the board, and the whistle would blow, even though there was no train out there. The old guys used to say, ‘That’s Walt’s train.’”
9.Orson Welles is said to appear at a bakery in Los Angeles.
Sweet Lady Jane's bakery is said to be a celebrity favorite spot, but it also sits on the former ground of Orson Welles's favorite restaurant, Ma Maison. Employees there have claimed to have seen Welles at the bakery accompanied by the scent of cigar smoke and aroma of his favorite brandy.
10.Charlie Chaplin was said to haunt Musso & Frank's, a popular restaurant for the Hollywood elite.
Some even claim Chaplin can be seen in photographs taken of the restaurant. He's said to sit where he always liked to sit, in Booth 1 as it was the booth next to the window.
11.Carole Lombard died in a plane crash in 1942, but her spirit is still said to be at the Hollywood home she rented from 1933 to 1937.
Real estate broker Cristie St. James, who represented the home in 1993, mentioned that a couple psychics have come into the home and felt Carole's presence, one even mentioning they "saw her walking down the staircase in a long, dramatic, red gown, going to meet someone with dark hair." Lombard's husband at the time of her death, Clark Gable, had dark hair.
12.Also, Clark Gable and Carole Lombard are said to have had such fond memories of the hotel they spent their wedding night at that their spirits refused to leave.
Gable and Lombard can apparently be heard whispering and giggling in their honeymoon suite at the Oatman Hotel in Arizona when nobody is in the room. Additionally, there's a story where a photographer took a photo of the empty room and the figure of a man developed on the print.
13.Lastly, this isn't technically a celebrity ghost, but a curse. James Dean's car had an incredibly spooky history.
After Dean bought the car, he showed it to his friend, fellow actor Sir Alec Guinness, who wrote in his diary, "The sports car looked sinister to me...exhausted, hungry, feeling a little ill-tempered in spite of Dean’s kindness. I heard myself saying in a voice I could hardly recognize as my own, ‘Please never get in it. If you get in that car, you will be found dead in it by this time next week.’” After Dean's fatal crash in that car, the engine and transmission went into two separate racing vehicles. The vehicle with the engine crashed, and the driver walked away, but the vehicle with the transmission hit a tree, killing the driver. The car was then taken on a tour with the National Safety Council, where it mysteriously burst into flames in storage. The car survived with only two melted tires. The other two were sold and simultaneously burst on the road leading to a driver running off the road. The car is also said to have broken the hip of a bystander while on display, fall and kill the driver transporting the car, and disappear from a sealed boxcar in 1960. The car hasn't been seen since.
