"I married my best friend and didn't tell anyone," the actress wrote on social media.

Congratulations are in order: Tommy Dorfman is a married woman!

The 13 Reasons Why and Love, Victor star revealed on social media Thursday that she quietly tied the knot with girlfriend Elise Williams late last year. "I married my best friend and didn't tell anyone except @hunterabrams who came and photographed us towards the end of last year," Dorfman wrote on Instagram. "We bought our own dresses @doverstreetmarketnewyork where i used to work before acting, and it was perfect."

The actress also wrote about the elopement in a Vogue essay published Thursday. In the piece, which features a slew of photos of the happy couple, Dorfman opens up about her better half, whom she describes as a private, "self-respecting," and "grounded" person not interested in fame. The two met via the dating app Hinge in 2021, and things quickly got serious.

"We got engaged two months into dating," Dofrman writes. "To our credit, we waited a full 12 months before moving in together, so you can't say we U-Hauled (though one might argue taking in a Great Dane puppy at our six-month mark was a smidge irresponsible). That's the thing about falling in love though; your responsibility barometer isn't always where it should be. Love, for us, required that nauseating combination of naiveté, delusion and fate."

As for the decision to elope, Dorfman says her bride never had aspirations of a traditional wedding: "She didn't have fantasies of walking down the aisle or large swaths of people staring at her and her future partner as they performed the spectacle and theatrics of marriage." And Dorfman, who was previously married to Peter Zurkuhlen from 2016 to 2021, said she personally didn't "feel the need for a big event, and since I had already had that experience at my first wedding with 300-plus guests."

Though the couple had some ideas about how they'd eventually wed, the actual elopement came as a surprise to them both. Dorfman writes that the two were sitting by the ocean in Malibu last fall and joking about same-day marriages, when it became a concrete idea.

"The bit turned more serious when I took to Google and actually learned there was a concierge service for this in Los Angeles (of course there was) and California was the only state that offered confidential marriage services, meaning our papers wouldn’t be in the public record and nobody would know we got married," Dorfman recalls. "A few hours later, a man showed up at our hotel in Santa Monica, took photos of us on our iPhones and a disposable camera I bought at CVS that morning, and we ended the day at a concert without telling a soul what we'd done."

And now here they are, sharing the news in Vogue and beyond. Of the decision to finally reveal their marriage to the public, Dorfman explains in her Instagram post, "A few weeks ago we decided to say let's celebrate this our way, so we [wrote] something for @voguemagazine and @vogueweddings because we love each other and the world should know!!!! ok???!"
