‘13 Hours’ Scribe Chuck Hogan To Adapt ‘Crossfire’ Online Game Into Movie
Chuck Hogan has come aboard to pen an adaptation of Crossfire, a film based on the online game from Korean game developer Smilegate and Neal H Moritz’s Original Film. The news comes following last year’s announcement that Original Film had teamed with Smilegate to turn the popular global game into internationally focused action franchise.
Crossfire, which came out in 2007, is a first-person shooter that has 650 million users with 8 million peak concurrent users in more than 80 countries. Tania Landau and Toby Ascher serve as producers on the film along with Moritz. Smilegate is financing the script and will engage with U.S. and Chinese studios once it has been completed.
Hogan, a New York Times bestselling author, wrote the novel The Town, which was adapted into a film directed by Ben Affleck and went on to land an Oscar nom. He is co-creator and executive producer with Guillermo del Toro of the FX series The Strain, now in its third season. Hogan is repped by WME, 3 Arts and Bloom Hergott.
Jun Joyce & Eva Dickerman at Katten, Muchin, Rosenman negotiated the deal on behalf of Smilegate.
