An adaptation of the 2019 namesake non-fiction book by Anurag Pathak, 12th Fail is an Indian Hindi-language biographical film. Both the film and the original book are based on the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, portrayed by Vikrant Massey. Following its premiere on October 27, 2023, 12th Fail received widespread critical acclaim. As of early December 2023, it has earned ₹60.03 crore ($7.2 million) at the box office against its ₹20 crore ($2.3 million) budget.

The 12th Fail release date could be sometime in 2024.
It was reported in late October 2023 that 12th Fail would not have a streaming release until 2024. Sources reportedly told India Times that Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film’s writer, director, and co-producer, himself made the decision. Given the film’s considerable success, it can be safely stated that it was the right one.
12th Fail tells the incredible true story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcomes incredible odds and academic failure to become an officer with the Indian Police Service. After failing his Class 12 exam, Manoj is inspired by the local Deputy Superintendent of Police and resolves to follow in the footsteps of the man.
Besides Massey, the cast includes Medha Shankar as Shraddha Joshi, Anant V Joshi as Pritam Pandey, Anshumaan Pushkar as Gauri Bhaiya, Priyanshu Chatterjee as DSP Dushyant Singh, Geeta Aggarwal Sharma as Manoj’s mother, Harish Khanna as Manoj’s father, Sarita Joshi as Dadi, Sanjay Bishnoi as Naval, Dr. Vikas Divyakirti as himself, Vijay Kumar Dogra as Sundar, Perry Chhabra as Rajini, Darius Chinoy as Mr. Solanki, Radhika Joshi as Tanya, and more.
Is 12th Fail coming out on Zee5?
12th Fail could be available to watch via streaming on Zee5.
As Zee Studios is the distributor of 12th Fail, the film will most likely be released on Zee5 in India. ComingSoon will provide an update when the streaming date and service are officially announced.
Current Zee5 subscribers should be able to watch the film if it airs on the service. Zee5 currently offers three premium plans to its prospective subscribers in India. Premium HD (six months) costs ₹599, Premium HD (12 months) costs ₹899, and Premium 4K (12 months) costs ₹1199.

“Inspired by millions of UPSC students’ lives and struggles, the story follows Manoj, who fails his 12th grade. But how he restarts his journey towards his dream of serving the country forms the crux. 12th Fail goes beyond that one exam and looks at the education system in the country while encouraging people not to give up amid failures.”
