Is that Greta Thunberg?

120-year-old photos recently shared by researchers at the University of Washington have sparked some intense conspiracy rumors surrounding the 16-year-old climate activist.

The images show three young children working on a gold mine in Canda's Yukon territory in 1898, with the eldest child bearing an uncanny resemblance to Thunberg, leading many to claim that the teen activist is a "time traveler" sent to save the world.

The Swedish teen has taken the world by storm with her efforts to fight climate change. She first gained international recognition during a 2018 climate strike outside of the Swedish Parliament, which inspired a school walkout around the globe. Since then, she's participated in climate protests around the world and has spoken at both Congress and the United Nations to call for an increased global response on the plight.

Thunberg's address to the United Nations in August, which took place after she traveled across the Atlantic Ocean on a zero-emission sailboat, has also garnered considerable applause, due to her bold words aimed at world leaders.

"This is all wrong. I shouldn't be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean," she said. "People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing ... and all you talk about is money and eternal fairy tales of economic growth. How dare you?"

After three months in the United States, she's currently sailing back across the Atlantic with Australian Youtubers, a journey that is being documented across social media. On Wednesday, she shared that the sailboat has encountered rough weather but the team will hopefully "arrive in Lisbon, Portugal, sometime in early December."
